Hi I've just bought a Desert X to replace my BMW S1,000XR. I am planning to remove the subframe to have it powder coated red. I'm looking for advice from anyone who has already done this. Before I start I just want to check if there are any specific things I should look out for or is it fairly straightforward? I', hoping that with the exception of a few electrical connections, nothing else needs taken apart ie is the ABR pump an issue? I've ordered the workshop manual which should help but just thought I'd seek advice from any of you who've already done this. Many thanks Rob
This, https://downloads.ctfassets.net/oif...476541/SPC_-_DESERT_X_-_EN_-_MY24.pdf#page170, is a link to the Ducati parts diagram which should give you a heads up of what has to be removed. Andy
Hi Apologies, I've just seen your post. To be honest, it was fairly straightforward once I downloaded the parts diagrams which you can see on the above post from Android853sp ( thanks again). I printed the relevant pages off and used them to assist. Everything was really easy, until I got to reinstalling the wiring for the tail light and indicators under the rear mudguard. That was a total "see you next Tuesday". Take loads of photos and don't follow the recommended torque settings for the subframe to the main frame. 35nm seemed way too tight. I set mine at 25nm with Loctite. Give me a shout if you get stuck
