I love a good number plate. My Friend has H15 TOY on his Audi and drives like a complete nutter so that it's easily remembered
I think you could move those words around to describe the way Paul Raymond thought about Fiona -post #42
Didn’t she have a pale yellow E-Type with reg no. FU2 in recognition of her ’work’ which comprised of ‘road testing’ blokes in order to write her regular column for whatever mag it was?
A little disappointing, since I've forgotten the suffix. If it had any meaning, it wasn't obvious. Anyway I was walking down the road - Hales Road, lights at the crossroad end intersecting the equally busy London Road, so usually a long line of traffic moving intermittently. Obviously recent white Jaguar coupe, plate prefix XK12. Beautiful V8 burble.
Interestingly, I was talking to a very nice motorcycle cop at the recent Moto union meeting in Sussex and we talked at length about number plates. It would appear that whilst most of us like to have a plate that is in scale with the bike and perhaps a bit smaller than legal the police tend to turn a blind eye because they actually agree that often what looks nice is not necessarily legal. I gathered that most motorcyclists are viewed fondly by the police in general but that is only while when being mature and riding sensibly and safely. I got the opinion that a complete twat on a motorbike would receive whatever is coming to him.
I think all superbike owners have indulged in a spot of twattery from time to time. It’s choosing the time and place that’s crucial. Tracks are ideal places for twattery.
Ai overview reveals Stroker McGurk character from Hot Rod magazine, was often credited with the phrase
It was a throw away comment that stuck forever and I feel that it will always explain in simple terms the difference between US cars and European cars through the 60's; 70's and 80's
As I remember the phrase was "there;s no replacement for displacement". In reality -save for a few notable exceptions- the Americans cars only had big engines, so thats all they could say...
