I drove the entire Riviera coast last summer from from Cerbère to Monaco. Some of it was really beautiful. Most was concreted over, with thousands of people and rarely a natural space compared to when I lived there in the eighties. I'm glad there's still a lot of trees, they were -apart from the ocean- the main visual link to the place I once knew.
I finally got down to Monaco this year,to see how the other half live.... Organised Chaos springs to mind, but definitely an experience... We stayed just outside of Monaco,so just a tad quieter, and a hell lot cheaper. First time there,so I've not got a year on year comparison, but Route Napoleon, along with Combe Lavel and Clue d'Aiglun was absolutely awesome !!!! Roll on 2026
I always put together a photo book of our ‘big’ holidays soon after I get back. We just returned from 3 weeks in Japan and the book is printed, hard when I had to pick from 1,800 pics I took! Loved the cool dude in the Honda Cub I saw, so many wonderful places.
