Well I went and had a look at the Halfords industrial tool chests, they were very functional but very scruffy. Liked the draw locking mechanism and did not think the construction was much different to that of the advanced/professional kit. The seller is asking top dollar but it is a lot given the condition. £800 for two trolley cabs and two top sections with six draws. Ironically he had replaced them with sgs stainless units.
@firecat0_0, Machinemart have just discounted a number of their Clarke range of cabinets. If something takes your fancy, I have an extra discount code which might be transferrable. Andy
I had a snap on roller Bobbie lined up but got buggered about something chronic , asking for deposits, difficulty getting address details - “if it looks too good to be true it probably is” was ringing in my ears so I walked. Had a look at some Halfords industrial units but a bit too scruffy for the money. I will keep looking as I have had some cracking deals off fb market place. I am getting a bit punch drunk if I am honest and, perhaps it’s my age but I like to see things in the flesh so to speak before buying, there are so many options it’s difficult to know what to go with. Has anyone on here heard of or used box stuff ?
Loads of 2nd hand cabinets, hand tools and power tools etc are often nicked. So bear in mind you’re probably dealing with a thieving twat when buying.
The belligerent attitude of the seller was quite something, I think he thought he was doing me a favour. Without doubt the worst individual I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. The Mrs got so fed up with me moaning and has just told me she bought me a Halfords advanced bundle but insisted I don’t mention tool boxes this side of Christmas! Works for me!
I am a premium member of Halfords and use them sparingly because they are comparable to B&Q v a builders merchant. They do a lot right and a lot wrong imo but I have to say that there advanced range of tools and equipment is exceptional and the equivalent to snap on. Any defects are immediately replaced with no quibble whatsoever. I cannot speak for all products but if you are looking at a Halfords high end product I would say it is probably very good indeed.
Halfords could be such a good business but they do more wrong than right and survive by milking the unknowing honest and decent people in this country. Personally, I think its a disgrace but that is just my opinion
I have found them very good on any warranty issues (batteries and a few tools) but with the Halfords card the three tool chests were very reasonable and have a 3 year guarantee. I don’t need the ultimate just reliable and well priced so they tick most boxes to me. If I worked in the trade it would be different.
