Hi All I am new to this posting malarky, and hopefully i have posted this in the correct place. I have a 2015 Multistrada 1200S and want to fit some spot lights. I dont have any crashbars and dont really want to fit any, however I dont seem to be able to find any brackets for the 2015 1200S. Does anyone know what I need to purchase, i plan to fit some non Ducati lamps and wire it direct with its own switch. If they dont exist then I will make some brackets myself but would be interested how anyone else has fitted aux lamps/brackets. Many thanks Paul
I think this kit should work, Have them on mine but with bars, but the lights don't mount to the bars. https://www.ducati.com/gb/en/accessories/ACC010492
If fitting non Ducati spots you'll probably need to make your own brackets or fit crash bars to which generic brackets can be bolted. The brackets for the OEM spots are proprietary in so much as the way that they attach to the lights themselves. I don't recall having seen 3rd party brackets that will allow mounting directly to the bike. The OEM aux lights work well, I have some fitted to my 1260 Multi, nicely tucked in, switched by the switch on the handlebar cluster and quite effective. Especially in helping to make you visible to other traffic as you approach. They are expensive and the earlier ones as shown in the link above are brighter, not sure if they're still available new though. Also they need enabling by a dealer or someone with an OBDStar diagnostic tablet.
Hi Thanks for the info, I have already bought some cheapo lamps and only really wanted to buy brackets, its a shame the photo in the link doesn't show where on the bike the bracket is fixed to fastener wise . Thanks for you help.
Hi. Thanks for getting back to my query. I couldn't find any 3rd party info re brackets for the 1200s either. It would be great to know what frame/ bodywork fixings are used to fit the "proper" spots on the bike, I can then attempt to bodge summat up myself that replicates the same mounting location of the lamps. many thanks Paul
If you look at the extensive assembly instructions linked to in the post from @711jro above you'll see where the OEM brackets mount. Fundamentally they connect to the upper radiator mount on their respective sides of the bike. You'll see on the parts schematic (early on in the pdf) that there are bolts for this, one on each side. These are suplimented by the shape of each bracket, along with rubber pads, that snuggly connect with the rad support structure to prevent the single bolt mount from twisting free. The shape of the bracket, pressed steel plate, is quite complex. I've fitted mine to two different bikes and it's quite a job with a fair amount of bodywork to remove. With the OEM spots complicated by the tail in the loom you need to connect to being under the tank... Then there's the added hassle of enabling them.
As Bumpkin just said the button for the fitting instructions is just under the photo (easy to miss if you're on your phone)
Aha.. i did say I was a bit of a numpty, I didnt notice that. Just had a shufty exactly what i needed thanks very much gents. Cheers Paul
