  5. It turned out I was actually only second worst! Very much out of my depth tbh, as most of the other guys were clubman racers. I ended up absolutely exhausted. I slid down a steep and very muddy hill in the woods, got comprehensively entangled in a load of brambles near the bottom and even when I got myself and the bike free, which wasn’t easy as it was like ice skating on a 45 degree slope, the right handlebar got jammed in a small tree, which meant I could neither get up, down or across the slope. Eventually after at least 20 minutes of wrestling with the damn thing until my limbs were like jelly and I was drenched in sweat, I had to be rescued by one of the instructors, and even he had problems getting the bike out of what was effectively self-inflicted checkmate.

Absolutely knackered, covered in scratches, I’ve wrenched my neck and my dodgy shoulder is murdering me, but I’m grinning from ear to ear.

The only downtick was that once again, Iggy took a shit in the van (thankfully this time it wasn’t liquid though).

  10. Just had a fantastic dinner. Looking forward to a lazy day tomorrow, we’ve got some nice walks with the dog planned while we’re here, before going home on Monday.

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks. There were times when I didn’t think I’d get this far.

  12. Hope you’re having a great birthday weekend.

That walk with the dog should help digest that lot.

  13. What size are those trailer wheels? If they are the small ones I’ve got 3 you can have as spares. I’ll check the size when I get up.

Only difference is mine have tyres on them which I find works better on a trailer.

Not only that, if they are the right size I’m driving through Hertfordshire early Monday morning. Maybe we could meet and I’ll give them to you as a Christmas present. No wrapping though :p

  14. I’m pretty sure they’re 8” rims with 4 stud fitting. One of them has never been used as it was the spare.

Looking at your picture above, it looks like they’re the right size.

  15. Going to the pub to get shitfaced in celebration of this

  17. That’s incredibly kind of you mate, but Mr Bezos beat you to the punch and I have a pair en route from Amazon. If it turns out that they don’t fit then I’ll take you up on your very generous offer (though I’d come to you as I will have missed your quest to The Shire) as they are 8x4 with a 4” PCD.

  18. Not much. I’m feeling pretty battered and bruised from my off-road escapades yesterday and I’m aching in parts of my body that I’d forgotten I had, so I’ve only been for a very ginger walk with my very ginger dog around the village cricket ground. I say “walk around”, when what I actually mean is “hobble awkwardly to the nearest bench and then lower myself very slowly onto it whilst wincing”. :D
