  1. Yep - I do a lot of short local journeys, ferrrying boys to football etc. Electric range on the car is about 30 miles in summer, 20 in winter.

  2. Correct. It was a PHEV not a mild hybrid. A charge would give 32 miles. Whether you got 32 miles depended how heavy you were on the right pedal.

  3. No, from cold to up and running either in low battery or foot to the floor demand.
Alternatively 330e can run purely in sport mode from cold if you wish to engaging the internal combustion engine only
    It won’t engage the batteries.
The interior sub lighting turns red the suspension stiffens the steering accuracy is heightened the exhaust note more pronounced and gear change extended as it revs itself into a bit of a beast
Which is all well and good in the right environment, but not really suitable on the supermarket run

  4. Sport mode in most cars is good if you have a slush box. Otherwise not so much imo.

  5. Thank you both; looking at the figures you got piqued my interest regarding these but if I have then got to factor in paying for a charger and paying for the charging into the equation I will probably just stick with where I am and potentially reassess the vehicle choice in the spring.

  6. Charger is an option, but not a requirement, for my PHEV - just plugs in to a regular 3-pin socket. Plenty of low-price EV tarrifs available, most of which charge at 7p per Kwh.

  7. Things have changed a lot. I got a grant towards my charger, grant since withdrawn. My first PHEV was £0 VEL, my current one is £192 VEL. Then there is the 1.5p per mile tax to come 2028.
In November it cost £11.34 to charge it for the month. I filled the tank at the end of October and currently have 150 miles of petrol range left. Car has a 2.5l ICE.
Most of my journeys are in EV but I have to zip up and down the A1 at 70/60mph so use the ICE for that.
The car was subject of a Ford issued warning not to charge earlier this year. I had to run it in auto-EV mode so that the battery fully discharged and then ran on ICE mainly. The difference in cost was 5p per mile doing this. Surprisingly the regen was quite good and at times in urban areas the car still ran on EV. The car is now back to normal use after a software update.

  8. So this morning I was told my car will be ready for collection on Monday so I then spent 4 hours on the phone trying to sort out getting the private reg transferred and then getting insurance sorted.

Insurance quotes ranged from £1074pa with my current insurer (RAC) down to £374pa with Hastings Direct, and all manner of quotes in-between. Guess who I went with :)

  10. One of my bikes is with Hastings. I cancelled my van insurance with them after 2 months as I got it for 50% less with Howdens.

  11. Not heard of Howdens will check them out got my van coming up mid Jan
