that's for a car or motorbike though isn't it Andy? - long after all that Plymouth Hoe milarky - do you think that's why old Francis was playing bowls, because it took so long to fill up a galleon?
I’ve posted about the ads in the past, I’m a subscriber and have been for years (before anyone flamed me) but my argument has been that the ads make the sight unusable on mobile browsers, so actually the more relevant point is that if you join to just get a feel for the site before paying the £5 to go add free, most users are probably totally put off by the shocking experience. tbc… I pay my money, don’t flame me… but there’s a valid argument here that the ads do ruin the site and create a barrier to entry. mods: how many new paying subs are we getting per year? How many new non paying subs (that aren’t bots)? In the overall site membership number staying static or increasing? answers to the above will likely support the argument for whether there are too many ads
Wasn't it he had to wait for the correct tide before sailing rather than the fuel issue. If the British were sailing Galleons why weren't the Spanish in Litreaons?
You can get a pint of Doom Bar in my local Spoons for £1.99 Anyway on to the other subject........as in everything in life things need to be put in perspective....99% of new users seem to manage how to navigate the site and sort out subscription without any bother to eliminate ads. This particular one is most definitely in the minority. And I'm at a loss to understand how people think a public forum can operate, survive and grow without subscriptions and/or advertisements to fund the hosting servers etc. As the saying goes there's no such thing as a free lunch.....although at £0.01.37 per day to get the best out of a public site I think thats pretty good value for money.
Yes it's what we call our local Spoons pub, where the local yoof go to chat up girls, have a punch up, shout at a bouncer etc... ahh the good old days. ☺️
The nuke I got for talking about my AGM batteries was from a 'New member' who'd apparently joined in 2015 and made 5 posts. Whether it's competence or a sense of proportion, I think I'd be happier if forum participation was part of the driving test.
I spend more time on here than any other site, yes, hard to believe I know It is easy to use and full of interesting and entertaining content. I am sure if it was “commercial” it would be destroyed by “mission statements” and the kind of crappage that drives anyone born in the 1960s nuts. I think £5 per annum for what our mods provide is a bloody bargain, thank you.
It's been a fiver for a very long time as long as i've been here anyway, perhaps too long, time for a rise to £10 next year?
