That's not a 'Gundog' lead. This is ...... Bunty Rope Slip Lead for Dogs, Medium | Anti Pull Dog Lead, One-Size-Fits-All, Durable Woven Nylon, Ideal for All Dogs - No Pull Training Aid, No Collar Needed - 120cm, Red : Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies
This is Melia. Greyhound and for those with ideas that they need tons of exercise they are lazy couch potatoes who need an occasional burst of energy, a comfy bed and lots of love. Amazing breed.
Well I'm not surprised he didn't like it being over his nose. That's not how they're supposed to be used. Just a simple slip collar round the neck gives all the control you should need (Like this if you walk them on your LHS)
The clue is the addition of the words 'figure of 8' in your listing description. That makes it more of a 'Halti'. A traditional 'Gun dog lead' just slips over the dog's neck. Anything else is something else. Anyway .... Happy new year
Sigh. You obviously missed the bit in post #4100 which said “It was one of those that you make a figure 8…”. Anyway - thanks for reminding me why I try not to get involved in dog discussions on the internet, as there’s always some Karen (or their male equivalent) of the canine comments section who chimes in to deliver a finger-wagging lecture about how you’re doing it all wrong. I think I will renew that self-denying ordinance as my New Year’s resolution.
I’ve just looked in the box of things he came to us with and there s a gun dog lead in there! I’ll try him with it later. Thanks
The one I used to know wasn't really allowed on the furniture but it always made me laugh how it managed to wheedle itself onto an armchair. It would first slowly & carefully put one paw on the chair and then give a doleful look across at the owner to see if it was ok. And then another slow paw and another doleful look and so on until it had all four on and settled down. It took a couple of minutes in total and you never had the heart to tell him off So yeah, Greyhounds are chilled out dudes and it never ceases to amaze me how they can fold themselves to fit into something as small as a single armchair. Sortov like the Alien does...
Hahaha. Iggy does something very similar trying to climb onto my eldest son’s lap when we are in the car or van. He always picks a moment when he thinks he’s asleep or distracted and interestingly, he never does it with my younger son, who is nowhere near as patient with him.
If they could do one of those unobtrusive tuneless whistles in the belief that no one has noticed I'm sure they would. Dogs are fine judges of character....
Do what he is used to with treats and wean him off to a ball or something He perhaps needs a good run around to burn off energy before walking him
