TRYING ROAD 6 GT,S FOR A CHANGE, THE QUICK-SHIFTER IS WEARING OUT THE SCORPION REAR @ 3K, ON MY MULTISTRADA PIKESPEAK 1260. WHAT PRESSURE,S SHOULD I RUN THEM AT. ?
THEY seem ok in the wet, riding it like a sportsbike in the dry they are good, but i have only done about 2K on the rear so i cannot comment about milage.
I guess they are all pretty similar, I was thinking about going for something different to the angel gt2 for a change more than anything else and Michelin Road 6 gt is an option. The angel 2’s are great in the wet and pretty good (for a touring tyre) on the track so might stick with them.
The GT has an extra ply in the rear tyre which makes the carcass stiffer and is designed for heavyweight bikes. The downside is less “give” in the tyre wall over rougher roads on lighter bikes. If you always ride 2-up loaded with luggage, fine. If you don’t, the quality of the ride is not the best. I thought, at 400kg, my Pikes Peak + me + luggage, would warrant the Dunlop Roadsmart 4 GT but it doesn’t. Andy
i think the biggest issue with me only getting 3k from the scorpions is a lot of roads in the highlands are spraychip and not smooth tarmac
Michelin and Dunlop follow a similar labelling system, both the Pilot Road 6 GT and Roadsmart 4 GT rear tyres share the build specification of having the extra ply for stiffness. Whilst I’ve not used the Michelin, I’m confident the behaviour of both tyres will be similar. Andy
