I'm facing a ban for speeding in the very near future and the tax runs out this month, so after a good blast today i decided to start stripping the bike to make it really mint, as opposed to just nice n tidy! i want to get the fairing repainted to get rid of various stonechips etc, the front rad panel was particularly bad, and there is a minor hairline crack in one of the fairing side panels which probably need some plastic welding, and the nose piece has a minor crack i didnt know about under the white number board. the tank and seat unit are both mint, and dont need paint, its just the removeable panels and mirrors. i've also stripped the entire exhaust system off ready for polishing, as it was tarnished and discoloured but thats fairly easy to sort. i'm going to clean off and repaint the silver on the sump etc where its flaking, as its only in a limited area and doesnt need the motor out. what i could do with please is recommendations for a decent bodyshop /repairer who can sort out these hairline plastic cracks and do a decent job of painting. i also need to source the original sparkly graphite type "DUCATI" logos for the side panels, which appear to be clearcoated over like the rest of the panel. Number board- i'm going to probably replace the white number board with one of these instead Nose Fairing NUMBER BOARD for Ducati 748 916 996 998 | eBay any thoughts or alternatives? any help advice appreciated, south yorks area if it helps. cheers
Hi, Apache racepaint are in Scunthorpe, they are well regarded and they do a lot of the race team stuff. Bought 40 miles from you, give em a call.....
excellent, off to look for a website, i have relatives in sunny scunny so that might work out quite well thanks.
do you have a contact number/email at all as the website appears dead linked and threads on net are fairly old about em?
If you're going to get the nose painted, why don't you get the number board painted on and laquered instead.
yes i suppose i could, once thats done though i cant change my mind, but i'm fairly confident i will prefer it with the number board. just seems to work well !
The decals are quite unique and I would say that to look totally authentic then it would have to be Ducati only and I imagine they are very expensive.
zausts are off to polishers first thing in morning, sump has been repainted silver today and looks tidier
very nice altho tempting, i think i am sticking with the plain yellow overall, whiteboard will be the only tweek. rims are black already which i like. yours is lovely! are those all o,e stickers?
