998 998r Price

  1. Somehow, I would also rather go for a 996R than 998R - dunno why.
On paper 998R is better - later engine / carbon seat unit / rest is identical.

Yet the last 996R that shifted on collecting car sold for £18k+ (+ commissions) which still puts it under £20k. And the market has gone a lot worse since.

  2. Auction (Collecting Cars) is where reality, or £, meets product. The rest, classified ads, are just a triumph of hope over reality.
In today’s market, where the aggregate amount of £ available for discretionary items like Ducatis has collapsed, there is an awful lot of unsold metal out there.
It only takes one “I need to get rid of this now” seller and a new price level is set, as are future sale price expectations, just as @Desmophil mentions above.
Once the very few buyers get the feeling they are outnumbered by sellers, bid prices fall….. sometimes quite fast.

  3. I agree with above, check out recent auction prices. RC30's are on the decline. As an example!

  4. Sigh...I'll bet they're not going to make it to the 18k€ I was offered one for roughly 10 years back...:(

  5. Yeah I missed one at about the same price about the same number of years ago, was humming and hawing just a bit too long - would have been my only foray out of the Duc world since '95 if I had!

  6. Just blame the lunatic left folk in government that're trashing the country.!
