A long awaited NHS appointment has meant an immediate return to Blighty. No complaints, it was a great shakedown trip for my Vivaro. Had loads of fun, met some great people and enjoyed the travelling. Now I can get back to finishing the fitting out. LOL. Plus the weather is not great in northern France just now....

Just when you thought you were safe from van crap... Its now next year and some serious thought needs to go into my van, to make it better, without making it altogether too much. After my two months on the road I've got a few ideas of what I like, what I don't like, and what I'm missing. So if you've got a van, whats you favorite bit of kit that works really well and adds something to your trips? All suggestions gratefully received!
Three way fridge, runs off the battery when driving, the gas if off grid and plug in when on site. Can’t be doing with warm white wine
Tow bar for carrying your bike carrier, which is handy for fetching water, going to the pub, late night visits to the bog.
On the next trip, can you try and get a picture of the "metal box" at a jaunty angle in front of some nice scenery please Jez? If you manage to get some local folk in on the shot - even better!
As opposed to the beach? Hahahaha. For you Chris, I'll write it down right now. Jaunty, angular, people standing in front of my metal box outside their local -consider it done! I typically -as you observed- don't do it. I always smile when I see pics of people trips showing their bike/van/car/boat always in the centre of the pic with some nondescript bricks behind it which is actually the Colosseum, Edinburgh Castle, Monaco road track or Rhodes harbour.
I do have the tow bar all fitted and wired up. I think I'm leaning towards either shit electric bike or electric scooter (legal in the EU unlike here). I have to make up my mind on whether I'm off to Europe or touring our green and pleasant place...
Thule make a great bike carrier that simply attaches itself to the tow ball. Whilst connected It can be lowered with bikes attached so access to the tailgate of the van can be achieved The one I have can carry three bikes so a single ‘shit’ electric bike/scooter should be no bother. Get yourself overseas go see our European cousins, you know it makes sense!
The scooters fold to pretty small size and thats a big plus for visiting the EU right there. But there's Scotland, I've an idea that Norfolk & the Broads would be a good place for me plus Devon & Cornwall...
if you're doing Scotland's west coast, do it before mid june for best results. in roughly 10-12 weeks time it is going to be scortchio for at least 10weeks. do it outwith that period and you will come to understand one of my previous comments. the east coast will be dry and sunny for the best part of 20weeks from mid march.
