Featured For Sale Ducati 916 Biposto 1998

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by Dartanion, Jan 12, 2026.

  1. Up for sale is my 1998 916 biposto (single seat conversion) in red with only 15,700 miles on the clock, I have owned this since 2019 and intended to fully recommission and get back on the road. It had been neglected by previous owners and needed some work to get up and running including a faulty fuel pump, binding brakes and general maintenance issues. I completed the work needed did an oil and filter change and had it up and running in late 2020 although I intended to do a full strip down and rebuild other projects took preference and consequently this has sat in the back of the garage now for a few years. The bike runs great, starts and stops as it should but will need a full service including replacement belts and a general tidy up and is now in need of a new owner who can bring her back to full glory and give her the use she deserves.

    Good bits:
    Fuel pump replaced
    Brakes refurbed and bled
Both wheels refurbished and powder coated
Exhaust fully removed, cleaned and polished
Tyres new back in 2021 and only completed minimal mileage

    Bad bits:
MOT expired Oct 2022 (although no reason it should not pass)
Rear shock spring requires attention or replacement
Showa forks would probably benefit from a service
No service history (was told by the seller that this had been lost)
General age related marks and stone chips

The bike is in my name and is currently SORNed supplied with one key and is located 5mins from Jnc 11 of the M25, feel free to arrange to come and take a look, tea/coffee and biscuits at no charge :DD
Asking £6,000 for DF members before putting up for sale elsewhere.

Thanks for looking, photos below (including one when work was in progress)

  2. Hi,
Is this still up for grabs

  3. Still available, you should have a reply to your DM now Dave.

  4. Dartanion, get an MOT forget about servicing and stick it on E-bay. Reckon you will get more than 6k.

  5. You are probably correct, been contacted by a few chaps from this forum who are interested so will see where that goes but otherwise I'll drop it over to my local MOT station and get a new ticket on her and stick it on eBay - not keen though as always seem to get a shed load of idiots with tyre kicker type questions and often the winning bidder ends up pulling out but we shall see.

  6. unless there are some "skeletons in the cupboard" that I don't know about, I find it incredible that this hasn't gone yet. Just shows how much I know about the current 916 market.

  7. Dealer prices fully fettled are 10 grand plus.

  8. Yes pain in bum selling privately but money talks. Imagine peeps near the south coast would be up for it?

  9. Hi Chris, to be fair i have had a good number of enquiries both from this forum and from putting it out there word of mouth so i've probably priced it a little lower that it's true value, the bike will need a bit of work and a full service with belts but still think it's a good value for someone and lets face it, January is not exactly the best time to be selling a bike, i just need the space freed up in the garage so i can get cracking with another of my projects.

  10. Exactly, funnily enough, theres a chap coming up from the south coast on Sunday to view it, so hopefully that goes well and it'll have a new owner by the end of the weekend.
