I understand that there's no such thing as a daylight MOT. It's just that if you have lights fitted they have to work - so don't fit them. What you must have is some sort of horn - it can be a squeaky pushbike one with a rubber thingy! I'd fit some sort of front-brake light as that's usually simple to implement. The thing about a no-lights MOT imo is that after the MOT you could fit something like bright LED running lights for visibility. My Enduro bike has always-on lights but no dip/main. MOT bloke said just black tape over them (= no lights)! Best check with your MOT person...
‘Daylight’ MOT - no lights whatsoever, including brake light. Horn has to be ‘constant tone’ so no bicycle honk-honk things.
Thanks for the advice. MOT compliance seems to be wizard level knowledge and a large dose of “am I in a good mood and do I like your bike”. My objective is a road legal bike that will also go well on track days. So as little unnecessary weight as possible. I did buy a very compact and loud electric handle bar horn for my Stark Varg. I don’t really want any running lights, but think a front brake linked tail light would be sensible. Could double as a rain light for the track.
