Good Afternoon! I believe some videos of this bike have already been shared to this forum so I wanted to introduce myself! (I was also advised to by viewers) Recently I was given a 1994 750ss in horrific condition (Abandoned for 13 years outside). No keys, no docs and held together with a mixture of cable ties, duct tape & leaves. Although I have experience with Bikes including building my own from scratch, I have never owned/worked on a Ducati & from initial inspection/reading manuals, I can tell some components are a little… ‘unique’. I would absolutely love any advice/tips/tricks that you can offer me! Including the best places to find parts.. What to look out for? How to confirm if its serviceable? (e.g. resistance over coils) I am aware that this bike did suffer with a lot of issues & I’ve already had a few comments warning me of this wonderful news. My plan is to do a nut & bolt restoration and bring it back to life. I need to be careful obviously, as although the bike was free, I am well aware that costs can soon spiral out of control.. Welcome, lots and lots of info in "archive"..if you use the search function there are entire threads with nut and bolt rebuilds and trouble-shooting. (ps: Please allow me to jump in first to clarify that the red bikes are faster. )
Welcome, Obviously the Exhaust and single seat are no good, but I can take them off your hands for free if that helps For me it depends how much you have to chuck at it and in what time frame. If you have a few 1000 go for it all. I took me quite a long time doing bit every time I had a couple of hundred spare. I think I should have sorted the engine and then put back together and rode it, but its difficult to draw a line somewhere. Expense: Main bearings £200 set plus others, Fork tubes £125 ish re-chrome each, Tank will need sorting if rusted, Frame repaint but I touched mine up, Brake and Clutch master cylinders are probably shot £150 each, There are lots of little rubber bit which will have perished which add up, as do seals, valves / valve guides and shims. At the end, oil plus brake and fork and different greases and loctite few hundred, Tyres £300-400. Good luck Cheers Gaz

I will be looking for standard components But they also may need to fund part of it at least! Time frame is no issue, I will do as much manual work as possible. I'm going to confirm something is Fubar before I simply replace it (Mileage is very low) There are parts I simply cannot repair like the chain and the cracked tyres and many more.. I have been holding out on purchasing anything as there seems to be a lot of choice and confusion.. So it may be a case of ordering parts after I've stripped the component and can confirm fitment.. Hello, nice Welsh dresser! The bike looks ok too. You have a blank canvass to work on. So lots of fun. Use Ducati part numbers and find their pattern equivalent, can work out cheaper. Good luck with your rebuild.
