We used to be like mad dog and Englishmen. Would always want to be outdoors no matter what weather. Suddenly on turning 12 years old he has changed, which is lucky for me as I will await a new knee. He now has arthritis so we both walk like old codgers.
Yep, we get that. We don't actually know how old our boy is, the Vet thinks @14yrs now, we've had him @7. But it's not uncommon to get all kitted up in whatever is suitable gear for the Wet, Wind, Cold, or all three, then get to the end of the front path before he turns back towards the front door and lays down. There really is no point in forcing him to go anywhere, but it does usually involve me taking him out in the back garden and staying with him until I've seen he's 'done his business'.
Rescue dogs are the most challenging and most rewarding to have. I’ve only had one dog from a puppy (my first dog) the other 7 have been rescues, all with their issues, some more severe than others but underneath it all they were all great dogs. It’s nearly always the other people that have caused the dogs problems, I’ve never met a bad dog. And yes this is now a dog thread
I have a similar outlook on (most*) people...it's usually their shitty past that makes them the way they are. *some people however were born broken and enjoy spreading ill will around unfortunately.
been like this for a couple of days now. 10 weeks to the day. two weeks late. but that's cool. cos the lads wanted time off when i normally take it. but i'm off now. (note to Fin. try not to rub it in when i return) chortle. Forecast for Duror | XCWeather
Dry all this week daan saaaf.....on the skateboard all week to work. I darent start the $XV just incase anything happens....
It hasn't rained for almost a day and a half. There's even been some sightings of the sun. Not exactly warm and at times the wind has been a bit of a bastard, but maybe we are finally going to get some better weather!
Dry and sunny forecast every day to Sunday up here in Geordie land. Bit of a keen wind but I expect to be out on the bike Thursday and through the weekend. And that'll be another set of tyres shot...
scortchio. no concreating today cos the lecky is going off. Dare i tax one of the Bikes? honestly folks, i cant stress this enough. if yer gonna tour the west coast of Scotland, do it late April or May. always good. and the colours are magical. forget july or august. it always pisses it down.
Not worth taxing it now till 1st May. You'll lose a month's tax. Small money but I resent throwing it away - I wish you could tax by the month - seven months would be ideal for me. I taxed mine 1st April but only ridden it twice. Too much salt on the roads still. Should get out tomorrow and the weekend though. What's it like on the west side of Scotland for salt through the winter/spring? Here in the North Pennines they go mad with the stuff and even on a dry day the bike comes back covered in white dust and you need to wash it after every ride if you don't want it to dissolve. I must visit your part of Scotland off-season. Living in north east England I ride in Scotland frequently but it tends to be borders, Galloway or straight through on the east side to the highlands. From where I live Argyll and the western highlands has Glasgae and the urban belt in the way and I've yet to plot a scenic route around the urban jungle.
yip, salt. probably the same all over. folks will be board of hearing it i'm sure but i always recommend when heading north west is to miss out the dirge that is Loch Lomand and stick to the coast. take a ferry over from Ardrossan or Irvin over to Arran ride round and get the other ferry to Kintyre. head down the B Road to Campbelltown then Back up the A Road and head north from there. or, instead of Ardrossan, continue up the coast to Gourock and take the Ferry over to Dunoon and head north from there.
Yep, tipping it down again here this morning. Personally, selfishly, I'm in the office today so not that bothered, and my garden isn't complaining, but need it to clear up by the weekend because I've got places I want to be, like The Main Event at Santa Pod.
the weather this year hasn't gone exactly to plan. but on the other hand, maybe it has. three weeks of scortchio starting on the exact day day it always does in April, for as long as i've lived out west. for nearly three years now, and for one reason or another, i haven't really been riding on road, i decide i'm going for it, but wait to tax the bikes at the beginning of May. apart from the odd day here and there. pishing it down. the strange thing is (is it?) everyday i've arranged to pick up a customers car to take down to work, it has been scortchio. Nice. Not.
