Dr Downpipe

  1. Could do with cleaning the exhaust on my Multi and came across the Dr Downpipe stuff. There are some videos online but unclear if they are sponsored or genuine (look to be but who knows these days). Has anyone used it or similar? Any good?

  2. I wouldn't recommend it unless your exhaust is only slightly discoloured; which it will clean off.
Any heavy staining and build-up wont budge that easily, some people use hydrochloric acid which works better but can damage the metal by stripping the chrome out of the stainless causing it to rust quicker next time.
The best way is unfortunately the hard way, scotchbrite pad and metal polish.
I found some scotchbrite wheels that fit a Dremel, saved some time but still took ages.

  3. Or you could call it 'patina' and live with it.

  4. Happy with patina, don’t like excess dirt that could affect either the structure of the exhaust by encouraging corrosion, or make future removal difficult. It’s no show queen and the reason it needs cleaning is just from the crap it gets this time of year.
