Fermin A confirmed to miss the opening round.. https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1...otogp-season-opener-gresini-names-replacement
Looks like there’ll be no more PI after this season.. https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1089711/1/motogp-drop-racing-phillip-island-and-eyes-move-adelaide
Not surprised, it’s been on the cards for a while, if you are to believe the speculation. Everything is wrong about Phillip Island, it’s isolated location, 1 road in, 1 road out, the timing of the race is at the wrong time of year for reliable weather and the overly abrasive track surface. Clearly, from the article, there are subsides on offer from the Victoria state government but not sure why they rule out a move to Albert Park, unless they are trying to keep PI as a viable venue. I also note Crash doesn’t consider WSBK a “headline motorsport”. Biggest issue for any motorsport circus going to Australia is getting through the strict biosecurity restrictions. I lived in Adelaide for nearly 2 years, awesome state to visit …….. or it was in the late 1970’s Andy
If my memory is correct, that is the street circuit from F1 days. I used to stay in a motel on Dequetterville Terrace. Andy
I’m still a bit confused where Albert park comes into it tbh. There’s walls 20ft away from the track everywhere…
That article says it all as well ..most Aussies head to Sepang or Mandelika if they’re interested in moto gp. Makes no sense to go there anymore if a) even Aussies can’t be bothered and b) you’re binning one of the most iconic tracks on the calendar for the rest of the fans. MotoGP (like any sport) is nothing without the fans.
Yes, I agree. Albert Park is FIA Grade 1 not FIM Grade A and there’s a huge gulf between the 2 standards. Put very simply, crash barriers for FIA and run off for FIM. I guess the question is, where (which continent) would you move the race to ? US, South America, Asia, Middle East, there were even rumours of going back to Kyalami. Andy
The Bend Motorsport Park near Adelaide mentioned in the article is FIM Grade A, https://www.racingcircuits.info/australasia/australia/the-bend-motorsport-park.html. Andy

Don’t forget Buriram test starting in the early hours of tomorrow morning although I don’t think TNT are showing any of it.
Final times from the test. Looks like Pecco is re-finding form and Bez carrying on from where he left last season https://www.crash.net/motogp/result...cial-buriram-motogp-test-results-day-2-sunday Pecco supposed to be announcing his next team/move in the next couple of days
Ogura over 1 second, lap average, faster in race simulation than Marquez’s race winning 1 lap average in 2025 It’s going to be a long season for KTM, Honda and especially Yamaha If we assume Pecco is on the move, what are his options ? Ignoring MM, is Bez the only seat so far confirmed for 2027 ? Andy
They are saying Acosta to partner 93 Martin to Yamaha Pecco to partner Bez Bulega and A Marquez at gresini?
