  1. Hi,
I have a Ducati stand but I bought it secondhand and it did not come with the separate bar to stop the rear wheel from turning. Can anyone tell me if the bar is effective and what length the original bar is?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Ducati stopped supplying the bar back in the middle 2000's, 'given' reason, potential damage to rear wheel if incorrectly used. IME experience, if you have the right tools, having a bar to use, adds nothing. I will temper that by stating I'm 6'4" with arms from a gorilla. Manipulating socket, breaker bar/torque wrench, rear brake and applying weight to the rear of the bike is relatively easy :D Andy

  3. But I am a short arse with little arms, legs and small fingers!
I was a bit concerned about damaging the wheel I must admit. Interestingly enough I just changed tyres on the Mrs monster 1200 and “only” used the rear brake to undo the wheel nut, worked a dream. Does not work on my 1260 multi at all, I never felt the multi rear brake was particularly good£ but the monster i# in a different league. I might need to investigate why there is such a pronounced difference in performance between the two. I think the multi has standard rear pads like the monster it was the fronts I upgraded with EBC.

  4. A high torque, impact wrench is your best friend for undoing, 650Nm minimum IMO. Big choice out there, mains and battery, Aldi middle isle often has unbranded examples at a good price. I have been using a refurbished body only, DeWalt, that was half price, for the last 12 years on successive Ducati SSSA models and cars. Andy

  5. Hi Andy, thanks for sharing, cheers

  7. Rattle gun is fine for the rear wheel and sprocket but I was not keen on using it on the gearbox sprocket . I recently changed the front sprocket to 14 tooth and it was a bit of a fight to undo it manually. I liked the gearing change and have bought new sprockets and chain to go 15/42 route. Hence the question about the stand arm.

  8. My Clark unit struggled to shift the rear wheel nut on the wife’s monster a few weeks back but got there in the end - but only just!

  9. I bought the bigger one of the ones they sell

  10. I got a Clark cew1000 240v 450nm and it weighs a tonne! Recently bought a 18v makita on offer with break out torque of 1000nm so that should do the trick on the rear nuts!
