Prices on older stuff continues to drop. Even some of the exotic stuff is getting closer to ‘normal people’ money. I still fancy a flat tanker at some point……
On the other hand 1980's stuff seems to be heading north. 8 grand for a 350 Elsie? I guess these are the bikes 50 somethings want and they are more numerous than the old boys and have the money. I'd love a 1930's twin-port 500 Aerial Red Hunter in red and chrome with the high level pipes. There's a 350 exmple coming up at Bonhams with a remarkably low guide price compared with what they would have been a few years ago.
Even the 80s stuff has backed off in the last 18 months of so. That LC would have been over £10k a few months ago. But certainly 70s and 80s stuff is where the market is at the moment (and even then it’s pretty flat). Really old stuff seems to hold its value well but 50s and 60s bikes are well down on a few years ago. But the people who remember them when new and common would be 70+ I guess. That red Hunter is very nice. They are a great all rounder and good value at the moment. Much more useable than a lot of 30s stuff.
When you watch some of the tat that Henry Cole comes back with for five grand this seems an absolute steal (although I’d have to bin the pillion seat). https://cars.bonhams.com/auction/32...-rex-judd-collection-c1948-norton-490cc-manx/

Just had a read up on the moto guzzi they have. 10 minutes I’ll never get back Nothing but fucking waffle no useful information. Like mileage, last mot date, last known running. Bunch of shitbags.
I guess there is bigger potential for a motorcycle to make a much higher price than basket cases, memorabilia and buckets of rust Andy
A Fizzie, a DB2 and a DB4 at the same auctioneers estimate… a decent Commando and Bonnie at below that level… an Elsie above that level. Either the estimator is on something mind altering, or the nostalgic buyers of Japanes bikes are. Strange times in so many areas of life.
Did the Bayliss 996 sell? Just saw……Buy it now for £55,500 - contact [email protected] Tough times for the alpha level stuff.
I guess it comes down to nostalgia, an Aston Martin is of no interest but an old LC is (still wouldn’t pay that for one though)
Saw an ex Troy Bayliss 996RS in Moto Rapido this morning, sadly didn’t have my phone to take a picture but IMO, being in yellow, it looked way better than that Andy
