Trivial Things People Do That Make You Disproportionately Cross

  1. The problem is that when the inside lane is occupied by tremulous types doing 45mph, the two middle lanes are occupied by lorries travelling at 50 and 52mph respectively, then you’re permanently overtaking in the outside lane

  2. I drive up the A3M late at night 2 or 3 times a week, it’s dual carriageway with a full width hard shoulder all the way.

Travelling in lane 1 at @(cough)70mph I often come up behind cars in lane 2 doing about @60mph when there is nothing in lane 1 for as far as the eye can see in front or behind(except me).
I’m sure it’s not always the same car.

To their credit they normally see me pull out into lane two from lane 1 and they move over in time for me to pass without having to slow at all, but in my mirror I see them move back out into lane two once I’ve passed them and am moving back over into lane 1 myself.

I simply cannot understand why they do it, or what benefit it is to them.

  3. I have heard people say that the inside lane has ruts from lorry wheels making their car dance around, that's why they keep in the other lanes.

  4. Those drivers who insist on following the Highway Code to the letter by staying on the inside lane at every given moment unless they are over taking
You’ll see them changing lane constantly in order to overtake then indicate back across two lanes to the slow lane, and repeat
You know who you are, just stop it , it’s silly.

  5. Maybe it's just 'design/fashion' does anyone remember the square mugs in the 80's that looked like a huge single piece of Cadburys chocolate, you couldn't drink out of them, the liquid would pour down the sides of your mouth, mugs are round for a reason

  6. You're clearly an aggressive and angry driver, when I drive they're dual carriageways.;)

  7. I agree about brain dead people sitting in the middle lane. What I’m referring to, as I said, when there’s a slower vehicle on the inside lane. ie when you have traffic an all 3 lanes, each lane doing a different speeds but these idiots have to speed up the inside lane, right up to the slower moving vehicle then they pull out.

Going past on the inside lane on a motorway is illegal in this country.

  8. Are you sure ?

  9. It is allowed in slow-moving traffic.

If traffic in all lanes is congested and moving at similar speeds, and:
    • The left lane happens to be moving faster
    • You stay in your lane
    • You’re not weaving in and out
    • Smart Motorways allow it in certain conditions also.
This is specifically allowed under Highway Code Rule 268.

It becomes illegal (careless driving) if you:
    • Change lanes deliberately to pass on the inside (Lane 1)
    • Weave between lanes
    • Pass aggressively
    • Cause another driver to brake or swerve
    That’s what I’m talking about.

If you move into Lane 1 specifically to pass — that’s where it becomes questionable.
Under the Highway Code (Rule 268), you should:
    Overtake only on the right.

Same rules on a dual carriageway.

  11. I’m sure it’s been mentioned before;

    Woke.

The whole Woke shit thing. Only it’s not small, it’s ludicrous and ludicrously large.

  12. Also wokery isn't trivial, it's authoritarian and utterly poisonous, and being cross about it isn't disproportionate.

  13. Case in point. This nutter released into the public because black males were over represented as sectioned. This is where DEI, fudged data and ideology meets reality. Infuriating to say the least. Especially for the families involved.

  16. What I hate is when I'm in the inside lane, it's not that busy and I'm doing just under 70. The road ahead is clear but half a mile on there is a lorry which I'll have to pass. And then some asshat who's been sitting behind me in the middle lane for miles creeps along side and stays there matching my speed exactly. I've either got to brake when I get to the lorry - and unless it's congested you should never be seeing brake lights on a motorway or dual-carriageway - or I've got to speed up and effectively undertake.

  17. I think what's most evident from this conversation is that Ducati riders are all exceptional car drivers.
