I'm all the gear, no idea. Modern bike wear is very good, depends on weather for me, colder months leather jacket, armoured jeans and boots, warmer weather vented fabric jacket or the Alpine stars Ducati hoodie I've got. Never anything that isn't triple A bike rated though. I agree as well, all in one leathers on a cruiser a bit odd, but you won't get arrested for it
Ive just bought some Pando AAA rated armoured base layer leggings I can wear everyday trousers on top. The jacket is a Dianese textile Airbag jacket
In general I will wear my Knox Urbane Pro jacket with weather appropriate layers or if v cold then my Merlin Kurkbury Jacket along with armoured trousers/jeans, motorcycle boots and gloves. For spirited rides I will use my two piece leathers on the Tuono and if it looks like it may persist down then I will carry my two piece waterproofs. Regardless of distance though I will always get kitted up.
I used to be leather top to bottom (but never one-piece suit and knee sliders - the flip-side of fingerless gloves, excessive facial hair and a wallet on a chain). Textiles very rarely now. I don't do much touring as I already live (IMO) in the best part of the country for great riding roads, so it's mostly been leather jacket and plain, slider-less leather jeans. But I've been getting fed up with the weight and heat of leather trousers so now it's the same Bering leather jacket I've had for about 15 years plus cargo pant jeans. Last year I bought a Furygan mesh jacket which is fantastic in hot weather. I hope I get to wear again this summer...
Yeah, I've got the Furygan mesh jacket, mid weight colder weather textile gloves and a pair of their riding boots, I do like their gear a lot.
Leather Halvarsons jacket and Troos which zip together, they're waterproof too so saved my ass from a wet week in North Wales a couple of years ago.. Daytona boots and Halvarssons gloves feel pretty bomb proof too. You do feel safe in the leathers. Also have Roadskin Taranis jeans which are ace and treated myself to a Rukka gore tex Kalis jacket which works really well on the Multi and zips into the jeans nicely..
They are fab in the heat. Lovely and cool, even off the bike. Only issue living in the north east is the weather can change suddenly. You can set off in 30 degree warmth but if it clouds over half way through the day and drizzle sets in you're riding home with hyperthermia..
In which case, you might want to consider one of these, which I take along to wear over my Dainese mesh jacket in such circumstances.
I have a sleeved overtop like the kind cyclists use for descents to keep the wind off. It it so small folded up as to fit in one of the front jacket pockets, but is perfect for a bit of protection under a vented jacket if required. Plus they are dead cheap compared to dedicated motorcycle gear.
