I see you intend to use the laptop with diagnostic software. Which compatibility layer do you intend using with Debian? Sounds an interesting little project. I was a massive fan of Windows XP and still use it on my diagnostic only netbook (no internet).

Gradually it's coming back to me. Last time I dual-booted Windows and Mint KDE, I ran Virtual Box in both. Why I did, hasn't come back to me yet*; but anyway you could run the same VMs from either boot. With Additions you get USB support, so I suspect that I won't dual boot - because this is purely for the workshop - I'll run 7 or 8.1 virtually. I assume jpdiag will run thus. *Possibly to run Office. I tried it in Wine and didn't like it at all! And I prefer Outlook (2007). Edit: I'll run 8.1. I no longer have 7 or XP. 8.1 is fine with the right hacks.
