I would like to replace my Garmin XT2 mounted on a Evotech bracket with a Carpuride. From what I can see the disadvantages are the Carpuride is not as easy to remove but at the same time easily stolen. my questions are Which model have peeps used and happy with How have you mounted it on a V4 Multistrada Thanks
I have just bought but not mounted yet, a Quadlock system for mounting a Carpuride to a Multi V4. You can get an adapter for the Evotech bracket to mount a Carpuride screen with Quadlock. Thus enabling you to quick detach it…as opposed to thieving scumbags doing it.
I used the same as Sam1199. Evotech/ quadlock/ Carpuride 702 on my V4S. I did change the blue quadlock lever for a black one to make it less obvious and do usually take it off overnight
A photo would be good if you don’t mind. Mine is not on the bike yet. I think the black lever is a good idea, mine is red. I’d say taking it off overnight on tour is essential. Having said that, I recently went around Morocco with the Carpuride permanently fixed ( as permanent as you can get) to my Multi 1200DVT. We did leave the bikes in hotel car parks except for one night, when the advertised parking turned out to be on the street. Everything was ok but it was a concern and I’m happy to experiment with the Quadlock system on the V4. I say experiment because I don’t know if it will vibrate due to the bracket. I’ll find out though!
Vibration doesn't matter for Carpurides - as in the Harley-level vibrations that can knacker delicate smartphone cameras. Or vibration as in 'I can't read it'? My smartphone is readable in an Evotech + Quad Lock set up.
Quadlock mount as suggested , works fine . Just need to detach from the power cable , twist release connector , easy.
I’ve got a W702 I’m going to mount on the V4. Think it should be a good fit. However on the 1200DVT it was slightly large. So I might try a Carpuride W603 which is slimmer, or less height when mounted sideways. Anyone tried a W603? Don’t want to buy one and find the info is squashed in compared to the W702.
Some photos of them fitted would be great. I’m not mad keen on the Quadlock if it pushes the display closer, making it wobbly.
This is how my Garmin is mounted, which is perfect. It doesn’t wobble and is in an ideal position for viewing
I have an MRA vario screen and have to tilt the Carpuride down a bit to then be able to twist free of the mount
I have a Carpuride 702Pro with TPMS on my V4S using the Iconic mount. I found the big X shaped Evotek mount upset the airflow from the screen, not an issue with the Iconic mount. I modified the Capuride mount by removing the ball mount and bolting on a TT plate that is bolted to the bike. Means its not removable but is bolted on and in 3 years of UK and EU trips its never been touched.
Also running a Carpuride on a Quadlock but on the wireless option as I can switch to my phone if the Carpuride dies or gets chored, added bonus is it has no lever.
I use the Iconic mount together with a BMW lockable Nav mount, the Carpuride (for BMW) clips directly on to this, no plugs to connect / disconnect and I've coded the BMW barrel to my key, so it can remain locked in place. I also have the 3D AM adaptor so the Garmin XT can still be used in the nav mount if preferred.
I am also looking at the Carpuride, but my 950S has the Iconic screen brace and spacers with a mount for a Zumo XT. So it looks like I could just remove the Zumo mount and connect the Carpuride in it's place. The mount also has the lock option for the Zumo which would be removed.
