No doubt there will be on the odd one seen at trackdays somewhere. It’s the only place to find out how good it is. At least this is proper race spec stuff and not just a flashy paint job and varnished signature.
Its a very nice engineering flex, but utilmately they'll all go into storage.....pure unobtainium for the regular knuckle draggers like myself.
Very much so. But just imagine being let loose with 247bhp and 167kg at somewhere like Silverstone. I nearly shat myself on a standard 1299 Panigale at Snetterton.
That said if I could afford the Centenario then the extra £40k required to have a blast on MM93s MotoGP Desmo would be worth the extra cash.
what a machine, stunning finish, sadly not to be ridden the highest mileage on any other superleggara on AT is 4400, two have less than 10 miles, and that is a fucking tragedy
You'd need to be both rich and an excellent rider to risk a trackday on one of those, as good as painting a target on your back. It's just an investment grade motorcycle.
Few years ago I shared a garage with a guy on a V4 SL at Donners Ducati day. Had it on PCP. RRP I think was 92k. Took the bike specific tyres off it & hung them up in his garage; put a normal set on and wizzes around on it. Big respect
I very much doubt the overs market makes it worth 150k investment risk ... no one is paying overs or buying build slots for anything Ducati, people said the same for the Lambo V4 and no premiums being made there either.
Fair do’s. I got the hunch it had a touch of Desmo special about it. I heard from a reliable source they’ll sell out very quickly. Supply and demand, same old same old…
If the Ducati “race replica” MotoGP bikes are anything to go by, the limited edition specials concept does not work with motorcycles. The Centenario takes the idea to a new level by being quite difficult to ride, especially on a road. So they are allocated to “Ducati friends”, never ridden, sit in a garage collection and are forgotten. Until the next “special” appears. I think I would rather have the Bayliss 996 RS with spare engine for £55k.
Pretty pointless unless there's some trickle-down for the average punter. Which, realistically, doesn't look likely. Aero useful? Nope. Carbon frame? The 1199 Superleggera had a magnesium alloy frame in 2013 and bikes 13 years later still don't, so carbon frames aren't happening in the next decade for us mere mortals. Carbon ceramic discs useful? Probably not, modern brakes are good enough already for the road. Seamless gearbox? Possibly, but at what cost. If they had adapted the Moto E bike technology for road use (or track for that matter) I'd be more impressed. That would be braver and forward-looking to the next 100 years. I'm just off out now, to check the parapet is secure.
So all the 100 Tricalore ones have sold - some slots may not get allocated as it's very strict list being selected by Ducati. The standard ones have been well subscribed too, but you won't know if you have a confirmed build until the 13th April. There has been some speculation on selling slots on the tricalore, but Ducati have requested details and will likely shut that down. There is a contract regarding timing of ownership vs Selling on too, similar to the Original Race Reps. There will almost certainly be some that do get used - but it will be a rare beasty indeed I suspect
