Featured V4 V4 Pikes Peak Vs V4 Rs

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Multirider75, Apr 5, 2025.

  1. Very true. Actually, usable (real world riding) power has been decreasing. Nobody really pays attention to it as manufacturers always post peak power which is seldomly used, and if used, it's only for a brief moment. Mid-range power is seldomly discussed. Neither is torque although not shown here where there's massive differences between the old and the new. I've posted this comparison awhile back just to illustrate the differences. BTW, all these numbers were exported from BHKUK charts.

  2. After all, you need a 1:1 comparison of the bikes measuring acceleration in all gears.

If you say 'Horsepower', mention 'Torque', you should not forget the final drive ratio including gearbox. thats why a direct power to power comparison is misleading.

Only the full picture defines the 'feeling' on the bike. Not saying that the one or the other is better.

    Just my 0.02$.

  3. I'm of the opinion that my V4 PP is not appreciably quicker than my 1260 PP, but the mid range torque feels more, not necessarily better, just more.

So I think I'm agreeing with you.

  4. Loved your review, mate. Hilarious. Glad I got a Grand Tour. Phew.

  5. This data obviously only shows HP from the engine I think the best comparison is made when you watch 650ib on YouTube where he has an RS and races a PP and a M1000XR
From a 3rd gear test the RS smokes both the PP and M1000XR however when speed is up to 160mph the HP of the M1000XR finally overtakes the RS
So the conclusion is the RS is the fastest up to 160mph and after watching the video you will see just how much faster the RS is than the Pikes Peak so all this talk on its down on torque etc etc is completely undone in the video as the RS is geared totally different and redlines at 13.5k

  6. The only statistic worth shit is how a bike makes YOU feel when you ride it. We are not racers so 0.5 second quicker to 60 mph is pretty pointless.
I have a Hyper 698 and I reckon on back roads it will be quicker than all 3. :yum You won’t ever see 3 figure speeds on those roads unless you are flying through a hedge into a field.

  7. Quite agree everyone is different in what they want out of a bike - however I do get fed up with lazy journalists who actually haven't ridden both bikes side by side but just go on what's written down in front of them
Enjoy the Hyper - great fun bike

  8. Power comparisons are okay , but put that into a road , conditions , rider , braking , corner exit , speed carry etc etc
    Plus ability …

  9. Oh ability - you got me there that's where I fall down
