(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. I had noticed recently that things were a bit wobbly up front on one of the supersports so I replaced the headlamp/instrument support. There appears to have been a structural anomaly. broken frame.jpg

  2. Discovered several leaky bits on my 1098

  3. Just fitted ExactStart cables to my 1260 Pikes Peak. Starting I still pretty sluggish. Was quite a job installing along with a new battery. Cable routing neatly too and having to adapt the extra positive lead added by the common recall. Might have to investigate the starter motor next.

Reused the original rubber boot on the starter motor, the one supplied as part of the kit was pretty crap by comparison.

  4. Tried to bleed the rsv4 rear brake I've fitted to the frankenstein mille. As I dont have a Mr Suck, I connected a clear pipe to the caliper and sucked on it like hell while pumping the brake pedal. Result! And having a clear pipe meant I didnt get a mouthful of DOT 4

  10. If your interested look up "Rimar" on Facebook. There were 25 of these engines made, and 5 are in the UK (one guy has 2 ).
Not sure that any more will be built

  11. I'm not on Facebook but I've heard of these 500 cc motors Dutch company isn't it?

  12. Yes, machined casings, ktm crank cylinders heads etc, and rsv gearbox and clutch. His bike was around 150 hp.
We are all waiting for a modified power valve mechanism to get running

  13. Dare I ask the cost of the motor?

  14. I seem to remember it was about 7k

  15. Ouch

  18. Managed to (finally!) get the air out of my front brake system by elevating the master cylinder (enduro bike with upward loop from master). Used a bit of 22mm copper pipe as substitute handlebar so I could squeeze the lever:)

  19. Went to my local dealer this morning, to discuss options for a potential upcoming purchase, need to try and ride one of my current bikes before making a commitment to buy a new one

  20. Bike MOT this morning.
Tester looked perplexed when I arrived “Oh that’s tall” he said
Priceless entertainment (if not a bit worrying) watching him tiptoe it around the workshop.
    Passed though, so all good
