This song, a tribute to Indian composer and singer Asha Bhosle, reached just #60 in the UK charts in 1997. However it shot to #1 in 1998 following a remix by Norman Cook (a.k.a. Fatboy Slim). She is THAT Asha! I play that tune in the car all the time, Thanks matey and reading the lyrics now makes it all come clear. PS I always thought the song was about some Indian lass the singer fancied...
RIP Colin Hutchinson, Chelsea's MD during the Ken Bates era, without whom we would never have gone on to achieve what we did. Thanks for the memories Colin. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/colin-hutchinson-1940-2026
Absolutely agree. When he was the Uni Entertainment Secretary he used to come to our student hovel in Leeds to berate my housemate who was responsible for doing gig posters. Top bloke. RIP.
He was a big bike nut, loved them as much as his music. A complex character with personal challenges which cost him a little time inside. Ride on and RIP
Alan Osmond, ten days ago. As the oldest of the singing Osmond siblings, he was the leader of the group and can doubtless be credited with bringing us Donny, Marie and Little Jimmy Osmond. Indeed, as a member of the Mormon church, he possibly fathered them with his mother. I first met him when he knocked on my door and handed me a pamphlet; which was timely, to say the least, as I was out of toilet paper. Alan began his musical career with brothers John, Scott and Virgil, as a barbershop quartet, in 1958. Work was, however, sporadic, and for a while in the mid-sixties he flew a reusable red spacecraft for International Rescue, saving many lives, when he wasn't acting the debonair playboy and bedding Tin-Tin - though it was Captain Haddock he would eventually marry. Alan leaves behind a small, white, water-retentive dog called Bowser.
Oh no! RIP Ted. There aren’t very many programs I watch on telly but this is definitely one of them. Love it…
