Anyone have an opinion on these, as in worn under gloves to help(supposedley) with wrist pain. Curious
Surely you'd loose most of your wrist movement, would be quite hard to ride properly. The usual core strength, grip with your knees, or just ride faster, increased air takes the weight off your wrists
I wear the things that prevent the blisters on your palms from brake pressure from the grips. Indispensable if you want to avoid raw palms.
What bike and what type of riding? I used to ride a K1300S followed by a Panigale, I used to get pins and needles in both hands and sore wrists. At the time as most of my riding was touring and blood biking on my own bike, I traded the K1300 for a Multistrada and bought a BMW650 Funduro for blood biking. I kept the Panigale for a few more years. In the intervening years I’ve ridden mainly GSAs, RTs and Multistradas and not suffered pain or discomfort. I’d be worried about wearing anything that restricts movement and aim to fix the root cause. Hope you find the solution that works for you.
So would I. Also, anything that restricts circulation makes numbing, pins and needles and chilling worse. I get pins and needles in both hands. It's not the bike, it's age-related damage to my hands. Roomy gloves and a loose grip on the bars helps a lot. I suspect most riders tend to grip the bars too tightly. I know I do unless I make a conscious effort.
If you are struggling with your wrists, it is almost certainly your riding position. Try riding with your forearms parallel to the road. This will take the pressure off your wrists. I had the exact same problem when I moved from a 999 to an 1198. I even tried wrist supports. You can ride wearing them but you are just masking the cause. Your weight should go through your body core, through the seat and your legs to the foot pegs.
It’s the repetitive squeeze on the lever. On a track day you’re talking hundreds of times in a day. Before quick shifters, I’d get blisters too. And I’m nails…
I am definitely not the last of the great brakers, however I was always told to brace my upper body with my legs and core so that I am not putting any pressure through the bars during braking that could remove feel or upset the bike. That is what I have always tried to do and even my delicate little hands and wrists have been fine doing pretty reasonable laptimes.
