Haha. It was only a one off experiment - part of humanity’s never ending quest to push back the frontiers of knowledge.
New tyres today, for the GS. Went to MandS motorcycles fast fit on Westgate road. What a change on The Hill. Barbers, African food stores, all sorts. Just not the all sorts of motorcycle shops of the old days. Sad. Even the greasy spoons (of which there were a few good ones..) gone. Talking to Gary (sales) in the shop, he says the property is sold. Pending final planning for demolition. To be converted to student accommodation… A few motorcycles in the showroom. Varying from a few lovely Ducati, a mint MV Turismo, Then old stuff (inc some real tat) along with some nice genuine looking, low miles classics. A VFR750 in white with what looked like genuine 11k stood out. An old Ducati 1000ss, that was less appealing, looked like it had been used for several years as a ships anchor…more rust than bike.. Clearly something I dont understand about the ‘classic’ market
Reminds me of my dad. A bit of a build your own boat/house/knife/wet suit…or Crossbow…kind of guy when I was small. He built a crossbow, wood and metal, creating every part by hand, the stock, trigger assembly etc. Even the bow fashioned from something he ‘acquired’. Pull weight? A lot, as everything he built was heavy duty. On final test day we walked across the fields, just next to the caravan site where we lived. (Not proper pikeys…) and picked somewhere for a trial ‘shot’. Being skint, he only had one arrow, also homemade…anyway. He aimed at a tree, but up ‘ a bit’ pulled the trigger, and off it went. Next stop Norway we think. Like he said, ‘I only expected it to go a few hundred yards and the trajectory to be dipping and visible…’
I steered well clear, the stench was so bad! on the crossing, was it the right time of year to see still the snow on the Alps in the background? Amazing views…
Don't believe you, that little detour appendix on you route to the Eastern end of Lake Varese would have taken you past the factory gate... Nice crossing, most of which we missed as we had to take my mates 996 tank off to get access to the coolant expansion tank that was puking all of his coolant out due to the heat and slow traffic...
One of my mates set off an airbag module with a can of tomato paste resting on top of it (the small ones which are about 4” high x 2” across). He said it went so high he lost sight of it and didn’t hear it land either. It could well be in low earth orbit* *He was in a suburban back garden and surmised it had most likely not been fired perfectly vertically, so had therefore traced a parabolic trajectory and landed on someone else’s property.
Did you get any more pictures of the early 1960’s Corvette? I was mad for one until I sat in one and my knees were around my ears. Shame, lovely looking car.
Yesterday. Local bike meet, on the way hit a small bird stung a bit even at 50 mph. Hopefully it survived the encounter. Impressive mileage Cagiva Guess what? I do know, leaked oil like a supertanker holed in the Strait of......
Try to sort out my bees, all got in a bit of a mess with a queen in the wrong part of the hive. Did a split with a bought in queen and that hive is doing ok. Also another hive full of very aggressive bees that I removed the queen from as she had stopped laying properly.
