All good, tyres getting low on tread, rear tyre is squared off which I knew, that’s from touring with luggage. 1% moisture in the brake fluid. I’ll get new tyres later in the year before my trip to Portugal. I also asked them to pay close attention to the exhaust valve, i.e give it a good clean and lubrication.
I had mine serviced yesterday and almost £600 lighter. Accepting that included £105 collection and delivery charge. No parts, labour £315.00, consumables, environmental fee £78.33, less £2.41 discount plus VAT grand total £597.99 Bike has 8,000 miles and I love it, Im just not sure it’s vfm £271 for new tyres, £139 tyre fitting and rear pads earlier in the week. Over a grand, with nothing other than keeping it going.
Wow, new rear pads at 8000 miles? I’ve just had new metzeller tyres delivered today. Need to get them fitted, I’ll take the wheels off and save a few quid. I think any vehicle serviced by a dealer is going to cost. £105 collection and delivery doesn’t help My mate had a Desmo on his 1200 DVT Multi, it also needed a new fork tube as one was worn? Cost him £2300! Think I’ll get a Ferrari, might be cheaper?
So over £400 for new tyres? That's a little strong and could have been reduced by £75 if your had taken the wheels in.
I’ve just bought a pair for £262. I did see the same pair on eBay for £196 but I dithered and they’d sold.
From my recent experience tyres in excess of £200 are very high end tyres and whilst lovely to have they are not necessary for general everyday riding. Even going by the manufacturers blurb there really isn't any need to go top of the range.
Mmmm, have to disagree on this one, especially bike tyres. I’m not going cheap on tyres for a bike. I also like to tour on this one so need some with longevity
I was quoted £45 per wheel plus £5 disposal. I purchased a pair of paddock stands for £80 and the tyre change was £50 for both so a nice result.
It was the rear pads that were changed with the tyres. The front pads are 50% worn. I barely use the brakes and the rear even less. The originals were clearly made from cheese.
