  1. Just wondering what’s the best spark plug to use on a 996R ?

  2. The ones listed in the manual?

  3. Do you currently have racing plugs fitted?

  4. Yes I can see that but it’s now 25 years old so I’m wondering what’s best nowadays

  5. Depends if they list *Champion or NGK?

I doubt they use the same plug but I've been using NGK Iridiums in the 916 and had no bother whatsoever and I can't remember when I last changed them.

    * Champion for your lawnmower, NGK for your bike. ;)

  6. No , I think I’ve got the ngk iridium CR9EIX fitted , I’ve heard standard plugs might be better that’s why I’m asking

  7. Yeah in the manual it says champion RG4HC

  8. The standard Champions are fine and are easier to fit without needing to take a grinder to the plug socket. The NGK equivalent also has a different electrode arrangement iirc. I think it's sunk deeper into the plug body and hence doesn't project into the combustion chamber as far as the Champion.
