  1. Hi all,
Always been on my list and finally got one.

Needs tiding and a repaint, interested to know anything to check and which parts need to be changed or upgraded as the original parts fail?

    Regards Phil,

  6. Good stuff...if it needs a repaint, it's the perfect opportunity to change it to the faster colour. ;)

  8. Measure battery voltage at idle & various rpm upto about 4k to see if your charging cct /reg are upto snuff. If it’s low @ idle and when revs are higher it could indicate poor wiring between stator and reg/rec & or duff stator or reg/rec. if over 15v or approaching that when rev’d it’s a duff reg/rec.
I’d do a visual inspection of the stator to reg wiring regardless as they are often a bit crispy especially the connectors .
if you need to replace the reg get a mosfet one , cheap as chips 2nd hand (get an oem one Duc/yam etc they are mostly the same) & use a Triumph reg sub loom to connect it to oem (fixed crispy bits) wiring.
Also do an oil change and take out crankcase filter screen to look for alloy nail clippings. If present you might have an alloy crank gallery plug making its way into case bearings. The 98 on engine may have had steel gallery plugs as standard? So less likely to back out.

  10. Thanks Macca,
I had already looked at those issues as soon as I got it home, I will post a more detailed reply in the 748 section, as not to start a thread in this section.

    Regards Phil,

  11. Yellow ones are quicker and handle better! Don't put him off Macca, he just bought it. Although wise advice.

  13. Personal opinion: When you paint it get genuine or repro decals for the year and get rid of what you have on there. None of that, except maybe the tank decals, are original. Will look so much better.
You could also consider changing it to red to make it even nicer :-D
