I think I will investigate your approach when the current policy is up. I called Bennett’s back and asked why the excess on my multi had gone up and was told underwriters are allowed to change the excess on a policy when another bike is added and they often do it and apply the new higher excess to both the bikes on the policy. I was quoted £340 fully comp 6k miles for the triumph with 0 NCB on a new single bike policy so the additional premium of £115 to add it to a multi bike policy was roughly pro rata what the same period on a single bike policy would cost me. Given I will be adding a sidecar to the triumph I will need another policy when it’s fitted anyway. I will get a better deal on the multi on its own as I have already checked, seems likely I will end up going the same route as you have. It seems unreasonable to double the excess on my multi because I added the triumph - sharp practice that will end up loosing my business but I doubt they care.
Multibike (x3) with Hastings direct was 20%+ under anyone else for me a week or so ago. Its a drag going through all the questions, but its less of a drag than renewing 3 policies a year -to me.
Same as you 3 bikes with Hastings but 40% cheaper than next nearest, Having 2 nearly new bikes worth over £40k doesn’t help.
I'm with Hastings too. Less than £300 fully comp for my 899 this year and the nth straight year it's gone down and been auto renewed without any quibbles from either party.
