How would I know? Ask Dealer? He did connect it up on Wednesday as I had them fit cruise then - would it have automatically loaded? Thanks
It should have been updated then. No real way for you to know without diagnostics, but it should be done by default when the diagnostics are connected.
Had a play on a Hyper earlier, brilliant fun. Standard suspension is shite, on our crap white roads, maybe the SP is better. The bike had the software update, so was butter smooth, and didn’t cut out once. At 50, I don’t think I’m mature enough for one!
I have the standard - what did you not like about the suspension? Factory settings for me was too much compression and rebound damping on the front and similar on back On the front I was using around 100mm travel (170 total) including Static Sag (factory settings - 2 turns out) - I backed off the Compression and rebound damping 1/2 turn and now using 125mm travel. Seemed better at the front... the back - I adjusted 1/4 turn less damping - but still not as good as the front. Need to play more.. It will all change anyway when they lower it... so another 4 weeks to wait.... Already on 400 miles.... The 6000 RPM limit also comes too quick....
It was really firm, and got quite unsettled on poorly surfaced back roads, but that was a standard bike with the standard suspension setup. I wouldn't imagine they had adjusted anything from the factory, as they get so many people riding it. Maybe with some adjustment, it would be better??
I assume the base model has fully adjustable suspension? In which case I'm sure it could be tailered to the rider and the road surface. I found the one I rode very smooth and compliant without being at all soggy. But I was riding on well surfaced main roads. I'd have liked to have got it onto the Pennine roads near where I live, which are very twisty but also quite bumpy, but it was too far away. I need to get for the day as a loan bike.. TBH you'd expect the suspension to be pretty taut and focused on this sort of bike. Which is why if I was buying one I'd dig a little deeper and get the SP with the Ohlins. From my experience with Ohlins on other bikes I've had, whether factory fitted or after-market, Ohlins units offer greater scope for fine tuning.
Base model has adjustable preload and compression and rebound damping on front and adjustable preload and adjustable combined compression and rebound damping on the rear. On motorways / good A roads its fine - as stock - but when you start hitting potholes or manholes - it was a little jarring. Reducing the front compression and rebound damping helped - i have the ability to reduce more - but am happy where it is for now. The rear - still needs more adjustment / play - but as I am waiting low springs - I will wait to do more till then. I would have liked the Ohlins - but not keen on the SP Colour Scheme...... Do like the Anniversary one though......
I’ve had “Ducati” Öhlins on almost all of the bikes (Scrambler Icon being the exception) I’ve owned since 2002 of which, the ST4S with the Öhlins SCU was the best. The 748R I had to get re sprung, the 1098R I had to put lower viscosity oil in and the electronic versions in both my Panigale V4S and V4 Pikes Peak are IMO, too firm for UK roads, even on the softest setting. The KTECH cartridge kit in my Scrambler Icon is also too firm but the Maxton cartridge kit in the Monster 937 is very compliant with a good range of adjustment. Andy
Hi @nelly - Could you confirm Front Axle Nut Torque and Lower Fork Axle Pinch Bolt Torque? 63NM for the Nut and 12Nm for the Pinch Bolts? THANKS
Tested the Hypermotard V2 Standard version earlier this week and came away somewhat disappointed. Twice while approaching roundabouts and downshifting through the gears, the engine simply cut out. Both times under fairly normal riding conditions, nothing aggressive or unusual. Not exactly what you want from a brand-new bike, especially one that’s supposed to deliver a premium riding experience. Then there’s the overall finish and design details, which felt surprisingly poorly thought out for a Ducati. There’s an ugly bracket attached to the radiator on the left side that looks completely out of place, and cables around the engine are left very exposed, giving the bike a somewhat cheap, unfinished feel.
Theres a software update to stop the stalling issue, Why the dealer hasn't bother to do it i will never know. I've getting an SP which is getting delivered to me on Wed. The reviews its getting seems to be very good. Got an Austin Racing exhaust ordered as the standard bike seems to be overly quiet. Hopefully I'm not disappointed
Uh oh, just picked up my new SP and it won’t run at idle. Stalled 9 times on a 6mi. ride home. Dealer trailered it back to the shop. Why did I have to have a brand new model? I guess the bitchen looks seduced me.
That’s good to hear Jack, I need some reassurance right now. Leaving for vacation so I’m just going to forget I own one and hope for the best upon return.
So mine had the first Service Friday and the software update for the stalling and heated grips. Suspension still not arrived... no firm date - 2 previous dates came and went. Done 200 miles since software update - but still stalled once - clutch in pulling into / through a box at a junction... luckily the speed/momentum kept me going till i was through the oncoming lane and restarted....
I've got the Austin Racing Slipon ordered. Once they have the decat available I will probably add that with remap. I've gone this way so I can play around with things a bit and like the way they have made the pipework look.
Test ride booked on my 698 service date, could be a mistake? Questions too answer :- 1) Is it a supermoto? 2) Is it too powerful? 3) Is it a real Ducati? I do like the "birthday" livery though. Kindest Regards All.
In the order named: yes, no and yes. It may not be as light as you might expect on paper but it feels much lighter than it is and it's evert bit as agile as any trad supermoto while staying managable. Power seems perfectly matched to the chassis and it feels torquier than the figures suggest because you get instant go everwhere from the eager power delivery. I'd say it is a real Ducati. I didn't miss the Desmo as you don't need to rev it. It was reminiscent to me in a more refined way of the KTM 990 v twin, and that's on no way a bad thing. Just my take anyway..
I received an update from the dealer on the stalling issue with my new SP. Looks like the a throttle body reset cured the severe problem but they still had one stall after three test rides. Hopefully, Ducati can cure the remaining concern with a ECU update. I sure hope this doesn’t linger as a chronic annoyance, I see Hypermotardking is still dealing with it on his bike.
