Lennon & McCartney were great songwriters but I often find I prefer other artists’ interpretations of their songs to be more to my taste. Case in point:
Used to listen to this through headphones at level 11 whilst lying on the floor in the dark after err... a particularly stimulating evening's socialising. And it's good to hear it still gives me the goosebumps 6:40 mins in.
On the topic of covers This blows The Smiths version into the weeds. IMO obviously, before the Morrissey fan boys pile on and tell me he can't be surpassed vocally......
Not sure that i understand the purpose of this thread. Unless certain sounds mean something to you then what's the point of saying anything?
It tells other members something of your musical tastes, and thus something of your personality; it might alert them to an artiste or band of whom they weren't aware that might be of interest to them; they may look at your choices and suggest something that you might like that you weren't aware of; it shines a light on bands that may not have been promoted in the mainstream media but whom the poster considers are worthy of a listen; it promotes discussion between members of the merits of bands or songwriters; and it might encourage some to go out and see these bands which they might otherwise not be aware of. I think I have been on both ends of all of those points courtesy of this thread, so I'd suggest it has a great purpose.
