I've read these are more harsh on the road compared to the standard ones & more suited to track, but last longer. Has anyone tried these?
Not tried them on bikes, but have used extensively on cars. They are available in various grades (soft to hard) oil resistant and long lasting. Maybe no call for them on bikes, unless you’re getting through your rubbers quickly!
This in theory would seem like a good step but worth remembering that it will alter the effect and load of the chain into the gearbox. The off/on throttle connections will likely feel harsher as there is less give, but how much, I don’t know
I've also used them on cars, and been pleased with them, but as suspension bushes, not in the driveline. Yes, I'd be worried about the lack of cushioning of loads transferred between the gearbox components, chain and rear wheel. Ok on a race bike where the chain is changed after every race, and the engine stripped often, but for any distance on a roadbike could get expensive.
Your primary concern should be selecting 1st gear in a gearbox with straight cut gears. There is a trade off and with a road bike, I’m not sure that trade off is worth it. Andy
They were suggested as alternatives and whilst I was searching for a carrier they popped up. I used poly bushes on cars, including in the drive train without issues. When i googled any issues with them it said some people reported they were harsher?
Not sure if it’s an industry standard, but in the car world the red bushes were always the hardest ones.
