Jaecoo Cars

  1. I service my friends ML 350 and he finds about the same. The ML is a big heavy vehicle and 4x4 doesn't help. My CLS has the 9 speed box which is an absolute dream. On my recent trip, the downward journey to Baden Baden returned 47mpg. My 42mpg was an average over the entire trip.

  2. Back in the day, my Rover P6 V8 auto just about scraped 7 or 8 mpg if used spiritedly :joy: Andy

  3. What a beautiful car that was Andy with its lovely hydraulic tappets and "comfy sofa" seats:laughing:

  4. I had a 2 seater 280ZX with an aftermarket Janspeed turbo kit fitted, which had two extra boost-activated injectors on the inlet manifold that just dumped a fairly uncontrolled volume of petrol into the intake charge, and that only did about 8mpg.

  5. i had my first proper shot of an EV last week. a Vauxhall Mocca. apparently it was fully charged when i picked it up. i noticed it was sitting at 99% when i turned onto the main road. apart for the first squirt just to see, i drove it like a v,old man. somebody like ElT. slow acceleration, zero accessories on, including the radio, broad daylight, a scortchio day and no traffic hold ups. 30ml round trip, i returned it with a 76% charge.
    Nope. not ready.

  8. Chinese Jaecoo SUVs worth £900K go up in flames at Southampton docks

  10. Saw that and wondered if it was a deliberate act by an unknown party or a battery (or several) self combusting. I know Volvo claimed to have fitted a batch of duff batteries into 40,000 EX30s that could self ignite whilst charging but would these 30 Jaecoo SUVs have been put on charge at the holding area ? I thought the latest generation BMS was pretty bullet proof. Andy

  11. Also, massive Farage riot in Southampton the same day. Coincidence?

  12. It just feels to me that this is all a consequence of running before we can walk. Technology would have always evolved to help the environment but the desperation to push, push, push for unnecessary reasons has resulted in technology not quite getting it right at the moment.

  13. And your point is?

  14. I doubt it.

  15. I only heard yesterday on the news that more than 50% of all cars in Northern Ireland are Motability:eek:

  16. I think the point is that these demonstrations that may have a valid point are frequently hijacked by, or used as cover for, those wishing to undertake criminal behaviour.

  17. Not sure that that is what Pete was implying but hey ho!

  18. https://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/p...car-registrations-in-northern-ireland-5040019

In the same vein, is the Minister aware that of the 39,000 new vehicles registered in Northern Ireland last year, 18,000 were under the Motability scheme?

Percentages have obviously changed since I left school.
