V4 New Phone Compartment?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by El Toro, Nov 1, 2023.

  1. Part of the tank and away from where a tank bag would be. Like that.

  2. I understand that the power comes from modifying the pins on a connector on the Black Box System, so not a simple case of plugging the fan wiring into a connector, which probably explains why Ducati insist that it's installed and enabled by a dealer.

  3. Is there a service bulletin for this update?

Edit - Service bulletin is SVR-TSB-23-006

I will attempt to fit in the coming week or so. The additional pin is fitted into a spare slot on the large connector under the seat. Ducati suggested it may need coding in, but there is nothing in the service bulletin to suggest that. I will report back after fitting.

  4. So I fitted the new phone holder today according to the service bulletin and the fan doesn't spin. Looks like coding is required after all. Best get it booked in.

  6. I have a standard iPhone 14 or 15, I forget which, with a simple apple silicone bump case and it’s a struggle to get it in and out of the compartment. I long ago ditched the built in sat nav so rarely use it.

  7. Never quite understand why anyone would want to put their phone in a compartment on the bike. Stick it in your pocket and forget about it.
Stick it in the bike and forget about it and it may well not be there when you go back to it.

  8. A thread discussing a cooling fan for your phone charger. On a motorbike. Dear me.

  9. used to leave mine on bike sometimes in small tank bag then someone mentioned might be good idea to keep it in your jacket in case worst happened and you were separated from bike and needed phone stuck in the ditch somewhere..........

  10. Just stick it on a handlebar mount if you need it on the bike. There's anti vibration cases for just the job. I wouldn't want my phone rattling around inside the bike, wrecking the camera and all the other internal gubbins.

  11. @harryredchow , @El Toro , Old thread but I hope to get some response.

Any chance I can have a copy of the bulletin and part no for the upgraded phone compartment.

Searching for "Service bulletin SVR-TSB-23-006" comes up with no results.

My Ducati dealer is not aware of this upgrade...

    Thanks

  12. And since posted that, had cause to be grateful phone in pocket with bike 50m down the road and me with bust ankle

  13. What year is your bike? It may have already been done.

  14. You were certainly given good advice, can't understand why anyone would mount it on the bike, for that very reason, of course maybe some users have 2 phones .

Heal quick and hope the bike's not too badly damaged.

  15. Cheers mate it was last year so all healed......though bike was a write off :(

  16. Thanks all - good comments but has anybody has a copy of the bulletin and part no for the upgraded phone compartment.

  17. This is from Google..................

    AI Overview

Ducati offers an official ventilated and cooled phone compartment upgrade for the Multistrada V4S to resolve the phone overheating issue. The updated part features a built-in cooling fan. While the part itself is often provided for free by Ducati, owners must cover the dealership’s labour costs for installation. [1, 2, 3]

    Official Cooled Phone Compartment
Ducati designed a revised phone storage compartment that replaces the earlier non-ventilated version. [1]
    • The Upgrade: The updated unit draws in air through ventilation holes and uses an integrated fan to keep your device cool while using wireless screen mirroring and navigation. [1]
    • Cost: The replacement part is often provided free of charge, but you will need to pay for about 45 to 90 minutes of dealer labour to remove the side panels and wire the fan into the bike's electrical system. [1, 2]
    • Next Steps: Contact your local official Ducati dealership (such as Ducati UK) to check your VIN eligibility and arrange a fitting. You can locate your nearest dealer via the Ducati UK Dealer Locator.

  18. @El Toro - Thanks El Toro, already got the AI's overviews.
I am looking for those elusive part numbers and bulletin.
I believe you had yours upgraded. Hopefully the new lid should have a part number stamped on it - any chance you can let me have it - that could be useful.

  19. When I heard about the upgrade I just took it in to the dealers and they did it. I didnt have a bulletin or a part number. And I no longer have the bike so I cant check it for you either. Sorry.

  20. Likewise, my dealer ordered the parts but I had to pay the labour.
