  1. Surprised Alex (@92GTA) hasn't waded in yet :D

  2. Oh, I've been voyering since the thread started :D

It has some interesting parts (like the custom tie rap brake line>fork holder), and the paint, especially on the nose, has seen better days. Don't get me started on the crash damage.

My main concern is who in the hell is paying a 15% buyer's fee???? That's insane even by American standards and as horrible as Iconic Auctioneers lol. 5-7%, ok, 10%, sure if I really want it. But 15%?! Piss off.

  3. Tell us about the crash damage then!

  4. Äaaahmm.... 15% plus VAT@20% makes it 18% in total.
It's the going rate now for complete bikes.
For basket cases or parts it's nearer 30%.
As a buyer, you factor it in and the hammer prices paid reflect that in the last couple of years. Many bikes don't make their reserve or lower estimate.

  5. I'm interested to hear about this also

  6. Did you guys think this was just a beauty mark or what? You don't get that kind of damage from just a tip-over. That is grind thru the fairing kind of damage. Why the seller couldn't be bothered to easily replace the water pump cover is beyond me, but I wouldn't send something like this to auction like that.

  7. Not convinced that is the case. Many bikes show similar marks from fairing rubbing over time.

  8. It’s not, it’s rubbing from the race fairings, not crash damage.

  9. That's fair too, I could see that on a bike with this mileage.

  10. Youre guessing aren't you or did the vendor or auctioneer tell you?

  11. Doesn't look like tarmac damage to me. The water drain plug and its red paint spot would have been damaged also. I'd go with the fairing pad/rub/corrosion theory!

  12. Yup, just going off the images in the link.

  13. I’m not guessing, I’ve seen it.

  14. Yeah, a track fairing without the insulation on the inside or an ill fit would certainly do that over time as well.

  15. It’s common on all the 748/9** bikes to be honest. Not just race bikes.

  16. Good to know I'm always happy to admit when I was wrong and learn something new.

  17. Agree with the above - both my 748 and 916 had this type of mark on the water pump case. Normal “character”.

  18. Vendor should be happy with the result

  19. Odds on it was snapped up by a trader and will advertised soon for £25k +

  20. dumb dealer if he/she did
i reckon its going to a private buyer who's happy that is not a numbered model and fancies some tinkering or perhaps even some classic racing
