  5. It's taken me a couple of days to calm down enough to not end up smashing my fingers through the keyboard as I type.

Here goes. On Friday, my mechanic seized my Beta's engine. The carb had been on and off and had been dismantled and put back together again several times as he was jetting it and as the 2 stroke oil pumps on these Betas are notoriously fickle and fragile, I asked him to make sure he put some 2T oil in the fuel tank before running the bike. Well, the daft cunt forgot, the oil pump failed while he was test riding the bike, so he is now rebuilding the engine FOC as a penance for his forgetfulness.

This has left me dirt blke-less, so I bought a mate's KTM 350 EXCF to keep me rolling until I get the Beta back, at which point I'll sell it on. Here we are getting to know one one another yesterday.

  7. I wondered how he got the bike out of the garage with the key broken off in the lock and having to wait ten days for a locksmith.
I now see the error of my ways

  8. How did it go? :p:p:p

  9. Soldered up the power lead for my Carpuride, result.
I also fitted a reupholstered riders seat, complete with gel pad. Then after all the previous small adjustments I’ve made I went for a quick test ride.
The bike felt completely different, it was a joy. Instantly everything felt good including the Pirelli Rosso’s which I can only conclude felt much better in the hot weather.

Said gel pad is not only more comfortable but gives you a better connection with the bike. I noticed the same thing on my V twin 1200 when I changed the seat.

Anyhoo, it’s too late for the Pirelli’s because I previously didn’t feel confident with them but also they won’t last the trip which will be heading for 4,000km. The Dunlops go on today.

Just want to adjust the front preload now and I’m pretty much good to go.
Question is, just the right fork or both? The manual is pretty useless and says off you go to the dealer, I don’t think so. And how the heck do you get the clip released on the connector. Last thing I want to do at this stage is damage it.

  11. I’d taken the bike out of the garage and broke the key trying to lock the door back up.

  12. This morning I woke to another 114 Russian bots trying to join the site so I chased the techs to improve the blocking mechanism (they've had a couple of weeks to sort something). That should be implemented later today so we will see if it's made any difference pretty quickly as we are now being targeted with a hundred bots a day for some inexplicable reason.

  14. Took the multi out for a ride to see if it fancies clearing it's own errors and issues. It didn't, but at least I picked up a part I hope will solve said errors.

  17. Sadly, I'm one of that despised horrible baby boomer generation that have achieved something in my life and are now hated by the likes of Duke63; Pete1950; Finm; Red899 and El Toro because they think my hard earned wealth should now be redistributed amongst the unwashed. I'd rather buy a few pints for the good guys and gals on this forum.

  20. There is an innumerable amount of takers but only my generation knows what it is like to give genuinely and honestly without trying to be virtue signallers of which most of the current generation are consumed with being.
