So what have you done today..?

  1. Done London to Paris for lunch and now returning Paris to London on Eurostar. Passport queues in Paris a pain and if anyone is physically disabled it must be a bloody nightmare!

  2. I presume that is the same as "welcome to Britain" unless you are the scum of the earth deceiving, lying, cheating and thieving con artist in which case so many people on this forum will happily accommodate, feed, shelter and give all their worldly goods to show you what "good" people they are are.

  3. Finally put together a road bike for the turbo trainer using cheap shimano bits from ebay and the donor bike that came damaged. The most expensive bit being a set of 1inch threadless forks that had the correct steerer length. Seems a rare item as that fits an older frame.

  4. They're probably all Boomers themselves!

Ps - drop the politics from this thread and use speakers lounge for that kind of thing.

  6. The multi continues to spit electrical gremlins. The day concluded the same as it started.

  7. Or the "Random Picture" thread. Politics appear to be permitted there too.

  8. Only if it's the "correct" sort of politics.

  9. So far the it would seem that new bot stopping software is working. But I’ll keep an eye on the update.

Today I’m going to go J&S to look at new helmets and comms units. Doris wants an airbag vest too.

  10. What could possibly go wrong?

‘Be extra careful with the tyre valves, don’t damage them because they’re very expensive’ were my last words to the tyre fitter. IMG_2858.jpeg

    Many, many expletives.

I spent half the day trying to get a replacement. Not for love nor money could I get anything remotely close to this valve which is part of the TPMS. I searched around various bike garages as well as Ducati Malaga. Nada. They all took one look at it, eyes widened, ‘iz from a moto? Nooooooo, iz no possiblo’.

    More muttering through clenched teeth.

Apparently the monitor is undamaged. The bloody idiot somehow put it on his machine, rotated it and swiped the valve clean off. Motorbikes are such delicate machines, obviously if I have a hole where the valve should go I can’t go on tour. Simples.

One tiny little thing like that and all the planning, all the looking forward to it, all the faff with the new bike and getting it registered in time. All the arrangements, all the work on the interminable list supplied by the good Lady Dulcenea del Toboso. All gone, unbefuckinglievable.

Apparently he’s cobbled together some other valve and so far it’s holding. I doubt the TPMS will work but hey, who cares. I’ll pick up the wheel when he opens this morning and test ride it. He assures me it’s a solid fix on the inside of the rim. It bloody better be.

Have you ever had a valve rip out at speed? I have, it’s not fun. Many years ago in my yoof I had a tyre rotate at a different rate to the inner tube which ripped the valve clean out at around 70mph on the A1. All of a sudden my cool looking black leather trousers looked very brown. I felt very lucky I didn’t get a free trip in a white van.
It was the wrong size tube for the tyre. You’d have thought the dealer would have known better.

So when this fitter said we can always put a tube in, my mind went straight back to that!

    Iz a non!

  11. I'm sorry but that is a total load of bollocks. You can be a saint and a sinner regardless of your age. It's not a badge nor a sweater you chose, you're born in a generation and it has bugger all to do with how you act as a person.

'only my generation knows' - ego much? And the fact you're virtue signalling your self for such wonderful attributes, but stating it's because of your generation. Fuck off.

And the gall to boast about your wealth over posts, again, attributed to your generation. Yea... You're looking real stupid.

  12. Surely they're not dedicated Ducati part, is there no way to fit alternatives or will that not 'handshake' with Ducatis software?

  13. Not seen that before! Is the “fix” on the front or rear?
Does the tpm screw on to the valve from the inside because the actual valve you have in your hand there seems to be readily available and fairly cheap.

  14. The valve screws through the body of the tyre pressure monitor block. Over exuberant use of the tyre lever in the wrong place when removing the tyre. Clumsy and at £330 a pair, expensive. Andy

  15. Don't trust their website. Only about 20% of the stuff they list ever seems to be actually in stock at the store. Proto on Westgate road don't carry a massive range but they do good deals on lids. Bought my last X-Lite/Nolan there cheaper than I could have got it online.

  16. @Sam1199 that is terrible luck. Fingers crossed all is sorted quickly. I do have some spare valve cores that are not pressure reading, I can chuck them in the post if you're in a pinch.

  18. Ah ok, I thought it might be a standard Ducati angled valve with just a tpm screwed on the inside of it. That would have been a cheap repair.

  19. Thanks for the post which I liked, whilst I naturally disliked the topic (idiot breaking your valve).

My best regards to Senora Aldonza Lorenzo,

  20. Welp, my 1260 will be going for sale. I got the errors read and it provided absolutely no clarity to what is going on.

Since I had the desmo done, I've spent 6k+ on having the desmo work redone properly by a indie, have had said indie repair threaded bolts and also clean up sloppy work. I've yet to actually ride the bike for pleasure since the desmo, as the couple of thousand kilometers I've done since have been back and forth to garages.

I'm fed up and calling it a day, enough is enough. Thanks Ducati, but no thanks.
