10 years ago, I dug deep in my pockets for a powered roller door. Apart from an odd sized (expensive) battery needing replacement every couple of years in the safety sensor, it’s been faultless. A couple of years ago, I decided to replace the manual roller door at the other end of my drive through garage. Went with a company called Garolla who use local, independent installers. Didn’t go with sophisticated, 1 touch remote for up, hold the remote button for down. Probably 3 years old now, it has been faultless and cost, including installation, was a third of the original roller door in one of their fairly frequent sales. The independent installer did a good job. Andy
I installed two remote control roller doors in our garage several years ago. Really easy to install yourself, I did both in 1 day with just a little help holding stuff from Lady Nasher when needed. They make a big difference compated to an up and over.
Got the bike out and rode down to Coningsby to watch the Typhoons come and go. Took my Ausie Bush hat glad i did it was hot the Chipmunk is used for pilots who fly the Spitfires and Hurricanes to practice on a piston engined tail dragger
Thanks both for the replies but unfortunately because of the design of the garage roller doors aren’t an option, it’s either an up-and-over or a pair of side hinged doors. The door is across the corner of the garage, which has a ridge roof, so there is not enough headroom for the roller unless the height of the entrance is reduced by a considerable amount.
Also easier for senior management to operate if I’m not about. Although in fairness to the existing up-and-over door, it’s done 32 years under our ownership and it wasn’t new when we moved in, so going wrong wouldn’t be a major concern. The other interesting thing is whether or not I can get a half Euro cylinder to work with the Ultion lock set that we already have. If we can’t that would mean a separate key for an up-and-over door, but the side hung would operate off the same key.
Dropped Son off at Heathrow for his 3 Months of work. £7 to drop off outside the terminal!!!! Couldn’t get a decent enough paid work in the UK, but easily found one abroad. Another time when the UK has been found lacking, further encouraging him along the path to emigrating once he leaves Uni.
I am on an exciting journey, train to a place near Oxford, find a vehicle, transport three part – inebriated people to High Wycombe and then drive the vehicle back to Surrey.
Not put anything in here for a while....going backwards... Tuesday, put up a new motor on my (then fucked) motorized satellite dish. Its been fucked for years so finally got round to it...real world: live feeds are still a thing so you can watch stuff that might normally have to pay to watch for free but maybe put up with a foreign commentator (i just turn the sound down) Weekend just gone, fitted a set of Dyna 3ohm coils to the hyper....nothing more than an upgrade. A few weeks ago i fitted a set of the same coils to the SXV and that did give me a bit of a tangible difference...first and foremost it was easier to start and secondly not as much backfire when shutting the throttle off, so thought id fit a set to the Hyper....not been out on it yet though. Theres other stuff but i cant think of it...
Went to tip with some rotten decking in back of tiny 3 door hatchback. Young fella me lad says; that’s 2 loads that is. So £8!!!! I asked how big one load was? He couldn’t tell me. How heavy or large is one load then I asked. His reply, we don’t have a weigh bridge! So I ask if I come back again and put same amount in my car will you know? His reply, “I can give you a receipt.” At this point I walked away. Utter dystopian madness. Arbitrary finger in the air pricing based on nothing.
Just been to Aldi to buy one of these so we can wheel our stuff around to a festival we are going to tomorrow
Amazingly, the Supersonic Shed lives to fight another day. Ball joint and track rod end replaced. Just needs air con now as it was a quite astonishing 44 degrees centigrade in there when I collected it from the mechanic about half an hour ago.
