Shorter Days

  1. This is from my new smaller Android tablet: primarily, it's just for reading books and I wanted something smaller than my large tablet. Getting all my banking shit transferred over (coz this will be the backup) was a sharp pain in the A, so the issues with my iPhone that was a pain, are no worse (not by much) than Android to Android. I really hate were you use Android approved tools for transfer, but they don't copy over the important stuff, so you get the "Who the feck are you? When you try to use the app that you just transferred, so in fact, it's no help at all.

Anyway, not the point - I just rant! Madrid. For me, who's not into that "crack of dawn" gig, it's got to be Iberia from Heathrow. This was going to be around October time. Fing is: that's days getting shorter and a depressing time of year.

It takes me so long to type this out (well, point it out on a tablet) that I think that I now know the answer.

The question was going to be, should I wait until next Spring (a good time that I really like) or go in late Autumn? I guess that Spain has even shorter days than us at that time of year.

  2. Perry - do you know that you can plug in a USB keyboard to any Android device including a phone. For your phone, use the little gizmo that (maybe) came with it called the 'on the go' adaptor which gives you a USB A socket to plug in a keyboard...

  3. Back on a PC: I don't want to faff about with a USB keyboard - another thing to lose and carry around - I'll just mis-type!

Madrid: It will be Spring next year, from Keith Throw. Or, I will have another look at other airports that I can easily get to.

Less than a week till I get my new Gold Star! I am very excited by that. I am not going to worry about GPS navigation. I am often told to GET LOST!

  4. From the comfort of my desk (how did we manage without the internet?) Heathrow is the only way to fly to Madrid at sensible times. Probably with Iberia. It will be next Spring.

  5. With shorter days do we get shorter whinges

  6. There is no guarantee!

  7. The taxi fare to Keith Row is too tasty for me. And you even have to pay £7 to be dropped off! eFF that for a game of soldiers! It's going to have to be Bristol Airport and Easyjet probably, of I might KLM via Schiphol. I don't know. If I don't want to Heathrow, then it has to be Brizzle.

  8. If you don't want to pay Heathrow drop-off/pick-up charges, you can get taxi to Hatton Cross Underground station (on edge of Heathrow 'campus'), then free train direct to terminal.

  9. Madrid in October has daytime temps typically 70F & sunset at around 8pm. Just go!

  10. Schipol is a good option for lots of places in Europe, I used to fly nearly every week for work all over Europe and beyond.
I often diverted through Schipol to get where I wanted at the times I wanted to.
It's even a good starting point for taking a train to all sorts of places.
