I got fed up with the twist and a bit throttle of my 1198. A bit of research unearthed that R1 throttle tubes are better and also take out that little bit of slack. I ordered one from wemoto and it came the next day. 5 minute job to swap and now my throttle feels more responsive and I get from zero to hero in one twist. Part No - 4YR-26240-02-00 £14.77 + £3 shipping and £2.96 vat = £17.77 £17 is cheaper than a quick action throttle and is far better than the standard throttle tube. No mods required. Straight in. Its not a proper quick action throttle but it significantly improves on standard.
I is liking that, never been happy with the throttle twist and recently been looking at the quick action throttle. Well done sir, will get one ordered.
Only happy to help. Note it comes with a grip as well. It also leaves 3-4mm of the silver bar showing. I merely put some black electrical tape neatly round the end and you wouldnt notice now. I swapped grips too to some softer feeling pro grips for comfort as the standard ones were very firm. Plus the ridge at the end of the grip would hurt my scaphoid. Which Ive broken and can be tender over distance. I recommend lockwire for the throttle grip as its more reliable than glue and makes it easier to swap em.
Yes I read that too Mr C but I believe there may be a bit of dremmeling involved as the cam is larger. Thus I opted for the safe option as some people say dremel needed and others didnt. Without consensus i plumped for the easy option. For me the R1 is perfect.
R6 is far less, and thing the cam needs boring out slightly. Again its a common mod on Gixer and other bikes, seems Yam know what their customer wants on their sports bikes...and that is not two grabs at a throttle!
Any ideas if it fits the 999s as that is a joke of a throttle, god only knows how that got signed off at Ducati.
