2002 M900ie

  1. These are my bars (2002 M900ie). Not standard and no makers marks. They feel great, just need to get the (non-adjustable) forks sorted. They feel so harsh and jumpy. Getting them serviced soon, but would love to upgrade without spending near a Grand - any suggestions ?

  2. I reckon that’s the sort of bend that I will be more comfortable with.
I think that’s forks may be transferable between Monsters and 916’s, ST4’s and a few others.
I am going to try an oil change at some point.

  3. I swapped the bars over, but still not 100% comfortable.
I will try some MX bars next.
    Or some clip ons.

  4. I have 916 forks on my M900, meaning the standard bars won't fit due to the adjusters protruding out the fork tops so I fitted some 30mm bar riser clamps to clear them but then standard bars would be too high so I fitted Renthal 'flat' bars that, despite the name do have a slight bend to them.

With the risers they sit around the same height as standard bars and I positioned the bend to get a slight lift up and rearwards at the ends but otherwise almost straight rather than tapered back, this puts my weight a little more forward, not sure if this would help you but I like the position.

  5. I think it’s the up turn, that doesn’t suit my decrepit body.

  6. The good thing about flat bars is you can rotate them for a downturn if required.

  7. Like DD I have 916 forks in my M900 build with Renthal MX bars on the risers giving a very "sit up n beg" style of riding position which feels very comfortable but will catch lots of wind I'm sure.

  9. MoT today
9000 miles total, so an average of about 375 miles a year.

  10. Cripes - I've had mine two months and covered 1600 miles - I am retired so maybe that is cheating !!

  11. I’ve done 600 on two months.

Wish I could afford to retire.

  12. 90 miles today, before I melted.

Bought some bars with a better for me bend, but when I tried to fit them, they weren’t long/wide enough, leaving 3/4” of the throttle tube overhanging.

Replacing the relay, hasn’t solved the push the button and nothing happens issue.

    But what a bike!!!

  13. Best part of riding a Monster is just riding along with the engine plodding along on a sunny day!

  14. the engine is so flexible, a road, b road, uncl road

I have a couple of other 900's and you could say I am a fan
