All eyes now will be on USA v Belgium game, if the manger has an ounce of decency he’ll leave Balogun on the bench but then I doubt he’ll be picking the team? If the USA win and especially if Balogun scores I don’t know how the competition can carry on without the whole thing becoming a total farce or how FIFA can continue with Gianni Infantino in charge? I could imagine UEFA starting up a break away competition?
Spain v Portugal was a bit slow… not staying up for USA v Belgium… imagine the uproar if Balogun lashes in an injury time winner? I think some people would pop Can’t see the coach picking him tbh… It’s all too hot now…
If Belgium win Trump will blame it on postal goals “after the 90mins we were winning handsomely, they say by the greatest margin ever seen, a big beautiful margin. But then the postal goals were added and we lost, we were cheated and Barrack Husain Obama, a very bad man, they say he was corrupt you know, he was in charge of the postal goals, him and Sleepy Joe, that’s why we lost, oh and they put algae in the reflecting pool too”
4-1 to Belgium so that puts that piece of corruption to bed, thank goodness. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. ( Lord Acton 1887).
Portugal v Spain was the most boring game I’ve ever seen. Made me wonder if Spain are as good as they’re being made out to be.
only if Trump says it is, he’s probably back on the phone now to his mate at FIFA, I can imagine it now, “it’s our 250th birthday and we are the greatest country in the world so how can we not win the World Cup, you will arrange this for me, good night”
I gave up at half time and watched Yellowstone instead till midnight. Wish I’d stayed up to watch USA get stuffed but I’ve watched the highlights this morning instead.
Trump or Infantino? Trump is a transactional politician. He's a business man. He cuts deals to try and get what he wants and he doesn't know anything about football or it's rules. He admitted he didn't even know what a red card meant. Of course he was going to challenge a decision he doesn't like. It's the only thing he knows. So why didn't Infantino say sorry Mr President, rules are rules and it doesn't work like that, and then put the phone down? Clearly he did not. We don't know whether Trump offered some inducement to get the red card overturned. But you can only bribe someone who's open to bribery. That says a lot about Infantino and FIFA.
I think he'd have said the same if the US had beaten Belgium 10-0. Most European NATO members have been free-loading on America's military power for years and with a few honourable exceptions in eastern Europe Trump and the rest of us know that piffling defence spending pledges are just smoke and mirrors and if Putin were to attack a NATO member like Poland, as is rumoured (though what he'd attack them with is far from clear) everyone knows that it's the US who would their arses. I don't blame him for being fed up with it.
A. who is a pedo and B. I wasn't feeling sorry for anyone. But if someone was free-loading off me I'd tell them to fuck off as well. Whether I like or dislike Trump the man is immaterial.
