  7. We walked past Foggy having dinner at the goodwood hotel on Wednesday night, I didn’t realise it was him until we sat down. I wasn’t in the mood to give my autograph anyway.

  8. Spent a pleasant day in Chichester after dropping off some guests at GoodFos. A couple of "colleagues" bought tickets, one paid £100 - the other £200. Both regretted going and left early. If only people would listen sometimes.

  9. Hmmm... I went to Goodwood many years ago and I found I couldn't get very close to the action.
And without a VIP pass, we didn't have access to the paddocks. I didn't return.

If you want to see a proper hillclimb up close, I can recommend going Shelsley Walsh.
It's a really nice venue as well... it's like a 'National Trust' property for motorsport.

  10. Totally agree, Shelsey and Prescott both have that atmosphere that i remember best and neither tainted yet as far as i know - not been for a few years. The very first Goodwood revival/festival of speed events were memorable and glad i went.

  11. ^ did FOS once in the 90's it was ok'ish, but like every other "event" here it's just become an overpriced corporate wankfest!

  12. Been a few times and always enjoyed it.
Although my highlight there a few years ago was suddenly realusung the big guy I was stood next to watching was Dan Cole.

We're I suppose about 20 miles to the West of the site, and for rhe last few days have had the same 4 choppers ferrying people in and out early in the morning and in the evening from somewhere to the West of us.
Each chopper doung 3 or 4 return trips each morning and evening.

  13. The FoS is the event where proximity to cars, bikes and riders is guarantied with an entry ticket.
It is always busy, very crowded and eating/drinking costs a lot if you don’t bring your own vitals.

  14. I went very early on, 1996 I think. As I was walking back to my bike, a Laverda Jota, I spotted, Phil Read, Agostini and Surtees having a chat, I politely asked if I could take a pic with them. They duly obliged, I will try and dig it out.

  16. The year I attended they had the Team Obsolete MV collection owned by Ron Ianucci from NY. He basically bought the ex race bikes from MV when they stopped racing for what a believed to be a bargain price, the ex Ago bikes. Anyway they were on show the year I attended. I have a couple of pics of Ago warming up an ex race bike, people had fingers in their ears. It was that loud. I’ve never open so many Mv race bikes in one place to this day.

  17. went for the first and last time last year. my car was part of a manufacturer display - that was about the best bit of the whole thing. if youre really into cars and bikes there are other things to go to. if youre into the 'culture' of cars and bikes and pursue your interest through social media rather than live it, gfos might be the perfect waste of money for you

  18. I have been once and found it snobby and upper middle class. Just my opinion.

  19. We enjoyed it, but they really need to put smaller limits on the number of guests, as it was absolutely mobbed. And that was on Thursday and Friday, so goodness knows what it was like at the weekend.

Had an email today, they’ve released tickets for 2027 already. For four days entry, roving grandstand, and camping for two of us, it’s knocking on for £1500. Then add in the cost of hiring a motorhome/ camper, and you’re over the £2k mark.
