Spain were superb tonight. France didn’t turn up. I honestly thought France would walk it. I was wrong. And I’ve not been wrong since 1982 when I lost the toss before a game of snooker… Strange times.
I agree, Spain were so good they made France look like they needn’t have bothered and they were the favourites for the cup. Interesting that the top 4 seeded countries all got to the semi-finals. Tough match tonight and another tough match if we win. ( Fingers crossed emoji would go here if there was one).
An excellent team beat excellent players. Just like Germany used to. No megastars, just great team football. Think about their 7-1 spanking of Brazil. I was staggered by the ease of which Spain dispatched France. Fascinating stuff… I wonder how England will get on tonight Great players but are they a great team… ?? we’ll soon find out…
Spain are dull but very effective. Hard team to beat. Hopefully England can beat Argentina and then Spain. Especially considering the dubious racist comments from Spain re the France team.
Up until then France hadn't come up against a side that made them have to defend and as such had things relatively easy and pretty much their own way. So, I reckon, they perhaps had started to believe their own hype and as a team had never had the defensive experience & 'practice' you would need when coming up against a better side. That's not to take anything away from Spain mind, their keeper was sharp as a tack in closing down Mbappe, they kept Olise quiet and controlled the midfield. They were quality. Or perhaps, as some have said, FIFA fixed the game so that Pedro Porro would get to the final...
